The BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card - Qantas

Even though it offers the highest Qantas earn rate within BankSA’s Amplify range, the BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card still works hard to entice new cardholders, providing 90,000 bonus Qantas Points. Plus, take advantage of 0% p.a. for 24 months on balance transfers requested at new card application with 1% balance transfer fee. As for extras, cardholders can benefit from Qantas Lounge passes, birthday bonus points, and complimentary insurance covers.

Point calculations are accurate as of 15 March 2024 but may be subject to change without notice. All routes may have additional taxes and charges. Check on the official BankSA page for the updated calculations.

What we love...

It’s hard to go past 90,000 Qantas Points without thinking about where it could take you. With 83,000 points, you could fly return in business from Sydney to Christchurch, or you could book an economy flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles for 41,900 points each way.

If you want to make your travel dreams a reality, those 90,000 bonus Qantas Points could be yours if you apply and are approved by 31 July 2024. All you need to do to be eligible is spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval. After that minimum spend, 90,000 Qantas Points will be winging their way to your account within 12 short weeks.

In terms of everyday earning, the BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card is a nice little earner. You can earn 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 up to a maximum of $250,000 spent on eligible purchases annually. To earn double points, simply use your card with Qantas Frequent Flyer Program partners to earn once with your card and once with the program partner.

Another pleasing feature of this card is its birthday bonus points. With this, you will receive an additional 10% of the points you earned in the previous 12 months, within four weeks of your birthday. Note, this feature is given to the primary cardholder only, but the birthday bonus may be accessed by all account owners.

Let's talk about the interest rates, BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card is currently helping its new cardholders pay off their debts and reach their pay-down goals. If you apply for a new card by 31 July 2024, you get to take advantage of 0% p.a. for 24 months on balance transfers requested at new card application. Rate then switches to variable cash advance rate. 1% balance transfer fee. You can transfer balances up to 80% of your approved available credit limit (minimum of $200) from up to 3 non-St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA Australian issued credit, charge or store cards.

What’s not so great

We need to point out that the card’s annual fee is quite high. Cardholders may find other Qantas rewards cards that provide a higher earn rate for a similar annual fee. However, if you find value from the rewards you earn and the extras you use, then this card’s annual fee may be worth paying.

And, as of July 2023, BankSA has introduced an annual $75 Qantas Rewards fee if you earn Qantas Points through the Amplify Qantas rewards program.

Meanwhile, with its relatively high purchase rate and cash advance rate, it’s best to avoid cash advances, while clearing the balance each statement period.

Why should you choose this card?

An excellent option for anyone looking to earn Qantas Points while enjoying an array of extras, the BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card offers plenty of value to big spenders and frequent travellers. If you happen to have an additional cardholder you want to add to the account, you can do so free of charge, allowing you to earn points faster day today.

As a cardholder, you can benefit from two Qantas Lounge passes each year. A great feature, this is available to all BankSA Amplify Signature credit cardholders each year, as long as they spend at least $1 on their card within the preceding 12 months.

On top of that, the card provides complimentary insurance cover in the form of travel insurance, providing cover for trips up to six months for you, your spouse and your dependent children. This cover includes medical expenses, unexpected cancellation and rental vehicle excess. Extended warranty insurance and a price guarantee are also provided.

Overall Rating

Providing an excellent selection of extras, the BankSA Amplify Signature Credit Card makes it easy to earn Qantas rewards while taking advantage of handy features. Cardholders can enjoy Qantas Lounge access, birthday bonus points, complimentary insurance, and a combo promotional offer of 90,000 bonus Qantas Points plus 0% p.a. for 24 months on balance transfers.
