How do I choose a credit card?

There are a range of features to look for in a credit card. Here is a summary of features, with links to our comparison guides that can give you more information on how the cards work and how to compare them.

Balance Transfer Credit Cards: if you have debt on an existing credit card, you can transfer it to a new card and pay 0% interest during the promotional period, so you can pay it off faster.

Low Rate Credit Cards: these cards have low interest rates, so you'll pay less interest on your balance if you don't pay your card off in full each month.

0% Purchase Credit Cards: when you buy everyday items with your card, you'll pay no interest during the promotional period. This can be helpful if you want to buy and pay off a large purchase, like a tv or holiday.

Rewards Credit Cards: rewards points are earned by spending on your card, and can be redeemed for flights, accommodation, gift cards, merchandise, or to pay off items you've bought on your card.

No Annual Fee Credit Cards: cards with no annual fee just simply don't have an annual fee! These are often basic cards that are good for first-time cardholders, rainy-day cards or if you're offsetting your home loan.
