With the G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card in your hand, you will earn Qantas Points on your everyday card spending, while enjoy some nice platinum perks on the side. These include complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer membership, a range of complimentary insurance covers, and access to the Visa Platinum Concierge service.
Working well for cardholders who want to earn Qantas Points on their credit card spending, the G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card offers an earn rate of 0.85 Qantas Points for every $1 spent on the card, plus 1 additional Qantas Point for every $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services in Australia.
While there is a potential saving of $99.50 for cardholders who are not yet a Qantas Frequent Flyer member, it is worth pointing out that the card does cap points earned at 20,000 Qantas Points per monthly statement cycle. However, bonus Qantas Points do not count towards the points cap.
As one of the most popular frequent flyer programs in Australia, Qantas has plenty to offer members. You can redeem points for flights on Qantas, Jetstar or on more than 35 partner airlines, or you could choose to upgrade your travel experience while travelling within Australia or overseas with Qantas.
Qantas also offers points redemption for hotel bookings at more than 100,000 hotels around the world, as well as redemption options with Qantas Wine and Qantas insurance. Alternatively, you could head to the Qantas Store to peruse the choice of 3,000 products, including fashion and beauty items, gadgets, toys and gift cards.
And those platinum perks we mentioned? The G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card can offer cardholders peace of mind with the following complimentary insurance covers:
To activate this cover, you must use your card to pay for the total value of your return overseas travel ticket. You may also use Qantas Points or a combination of your card and Qantas Points to pay. For full info on eligibility and activation, read the PDS.
In addition, the card offers access to the Visa Platinum Concierge service. This can be especially handy for frequent travellers, helping them to make travel arrangements or find the best places to go when away from home, but it can also work well for anyone who simply needs a hand – with anything from gift buying to restaurant recommendations.
Before signing up for the G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card, it’s important to check out its annual fee. No insignificant amount, that annual fee needs to be lower than the value of the rewards and features you receive for it to be worthwhile.
And while the purchase rate isn’t super high – especially for a platinum rewards card – it’s best avoided by paying off your balance by the due date each month. This also allows you to benefit from up to 50 days interest free on purchases.
If you want to earn Qantas Points on your everyday card spending, the G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card offers a decent earn rate, despite its monthly points cap. The key to working out whether this card is right for you is to calculate how many points you will earn from your expected spend, to then weigh the value of those points against the card’s annual fee.
Its perks could come in handy for frequent travellers, saving time and money on buying standalone insurance. However, it’s likely cardholders will get most value from the rewards they earn.
A perfectly pleasing platinum card, the G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card offers a decent earn rate on the Qantas program, with access to insurance covers and a concierge service.
