Hi, I currently have a Westpac Black Altitude card. I have a few questions: 1. Am I eligible to change this card to a Westpac Altitude Black credit card - Qantas? 2. If eligible, will I still retain the Altitude points that I have already or can it be converted to Qantas Frequent Flyer points? 3. I already have a Qantas Ffrequent Flyer membership for Woolworths. Do I have to pay $50 for the Qantas Frequent flyer membership? Thank you.

Hi Thiru, you can’t change to a Westpac Altitude Black credit card - Qantas. This will require a separate application and credit assessment. Please note though that those who have or have held in the previous 12 months an Earth Classic, Earth Platinum, Earth Platinum Plus, Earth Black, Altitude Classic, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, are not eligible for their bonus points offer. You’ll get to keep all your Altitude points, but they aren’t able to be directly transferred into Qantas Points. You can only transfer them to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, Malaysia Airlines Enrich or Air New Zealand Airpoints. You could try transferring them into Cathay Pacific or Malaysia and then back into Qantas points, but you may burn a few in the process. In regards to Qantas if you already have a membership this fee will be waived.

What purchases are NOT eligible for points? Is the Business Services MCC included?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    22 March 2021
Hi GS, the following purchases do not earn points on the Westpac Altitude Black - Qantas card: interest, fees and charges, cash or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. So some transactions under the Business Services MCC would be excluded (like gambling), but most would be eligible (includiding car washes and transactions and golf courses). I hope that helps.

Does Westpac Altitude Black card is considered as Visa or MasterCard

Hi Himanshu, Westpac cards are Mastercards. They switched over from Visa a little while back. Both networks I find have similar acceptance.

hi, do I earn points when paying a charge on a Government website?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    8 January 2020
Hi Debbie, no points earning on government spend with this card. Actually I am not aware of any personal Visa or Mastercard that earns points on gov spend. You would need to look at AMEX for that.

Hi Roland, are Bpay payments made from the credit card regarded as cash advance or purchase and do I receive rewards points.
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    29 March 2019
Hi Marie, typically they are purchases. Though this can depend on what the bpay is. You do not receive reward points on bpay purchases.

Hi , We are a Qantas member already, how often do we pay the $50 ?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    16 January 2019
Hi Cherie, yes this is a separate fee charged by Westpac on top of your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership. Assume its some fee that Qantas charges Westpac then they are passing it on.

Hi if I'm already a member of Qantas do I pay the $50 Qantas Rewards fee
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    13 December 2018
Hi Dave, yes you still pay the Qantas fee. This is more of a Westpac fee though its likely Qantas are charging it to Westpac. Then Westpac are passing that fee on.
