ING Orange One Credit Card

The ING Orange One Credit Card

On its website, ING proudly says it has reinvented the way Australians bank, by delivering simple, straightforward and good value products. Is this really the case though? Well, after checking out the ING Orange One Credit Card, we’d say they’ve come pretty darn close.

Offering a simple, no frills card, ING keeps costs down with the ING Orange One Credit Card, providing cardholders with access to credit, alongside a few basic features. As a money-saver, this is definitely one to check out, giving you a low purchase rate and a low-interest monthly installment feature, all for no annual fee.

What we love...

One of the most appealing features of the ING Orange One Credit Card has to be its low interest rate. With its low rate on purchases, this is a great card for cardholders who tend to carry a balance each month, allowing them to save more on interest than they would on say, a rewards card or platinum card with a higher interest rate.

You may also be eligible for an International ATM fee rebate and a foreign currency conversion fee waiver – just check the small print for more details.

While it may not have the fancy features or exciting rewards program other – more expensive – cards offer, this card keeps it simple, providing plenty of money-saving potential. And if you do clear your balance each statement period, you could potentially save even more money, utilising up to 45 days interest free on purchases.

Want to make a big purchase? This card could be perfect for you. With the ING Orange One Credit Card, you can manage your big purchases by using installments to pay off them off over set terms of your choice, on an even lower interest rate than the card’s standard variable rate on purchases. That big screen TV or full-feature smartphone could be closer than you think!

As we’re talking about money-saving, it would be hard to pass up the opportunity to talk about this card’s annual fee. Yep, there is none. You will pay no annual fee for the life of the card, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars that could easily be spent elsewhere.

What’s not so great...

When you apply for a card like the ING Orange One Credit Card, you’ve got to understand what it’s good for – and what it’s not so good for. As we’ve already discussed, this is an excellent card for anyone who is looking to save money on interest and annual fees. But, for anyone looking for big features, this card simply does not have them.

What you’ve got to ask yourself is what you want more. Do you want to save money? Or do you want to roll around in fabulous features? If you answered yes to the latter, you better be willing to pay for them.

Why should you choose this card?

While the ING Orange One Credit Card doesn’t offer much in the way of extras, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any extras at all. As a cardholder, you can pay with mobile payments, using Apple Pay now, and Android Pay later on down the line.

As for organisational tools, the card allows you to set up automatic repayments to keep your account in good standing, while managing your spending limits with handy notifications, to avoid any nasty surprises at the end of the month.

If you want to add an additional cardholder to your account, it will cost just $10 per year, plus you could save some serious cash on fees, compared to other credit cards. Not only is there no annual fee, there is also no over limit fee and no dishonour fee.

Overall Rating

A low rate, no annual fee card with a few handy features, and the ability to spread big purchases over a low-interest installment plan.
