The Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard

An awesome low cost credit card for Coles shoppers, the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard provides heaps of shopping-related perks, as well as some very attractive introductory offers – all with no annual fee, ever.

Whether you always shop at Coles, or even if you don’t visit Coles that often, the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is a handy everyday credit card that lets you collect points as you spend. Is it enough for you, though? Let’s take a closer look to find out.

What we love...

When you take into account the fact that this card has no annual fee ever, it's a pretty good deal. As long as you pay off your balance month-to-month to avoid interest charges, you could be paying nothing for the card, while earning heaps in rewards or getting money off on your Coles shop. And the earn rate? That’s pretty simple too. You can collect 1 Flybuys point for every eligible $2 you spend.

But that’s not all. With another double introductory offer on the table, you could benefit from 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 6 months, allowing you to pay off existing credit card debt while saving big on interest.

What’s not so great...

To be honest, there’s not much not to like about the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard. While it does have a relatively high rate of interest on cash advances and purchases, these can be avoided by paying off the balance month-to-month and saying no to the cash advance feature.

Why should you choose this card?

As an everyday credit card, this is a simple option that allows you to save money while earning rewards. Plus, there are some very handy features on offer. As a cardholder, you can take advantage of up to 55 days interest free on purchases, allowing you to manage your spending while saving on interest.

Just be aware that to receive those interest free days, you need to pay off the balance each month and have paid off any balance transfers onto the card.

For Coles shoppers, this is a very convenient card to have in your wallet. For starters, you have a credit card and Flybuys card in one, plus you can enjoy $10 off your Coles Supermarket shop instantly when you redeem 2,000 Flybuys points at the checkout in-store each time.

Overall Rating

An excellent everyday rewards card for Coles shoppers, providing shopping-related perks and some great introductory offers with no annual fee.

I have used my new credit card many times but keep getting conflicting information about the $100 offer Today I was told that I had to spend over $100 to receive it. Other times I was told to spend any amount activates the $100 offer. Not happy.

is this card suitable for travel over seas and is it possible to set monthly or yearly auto repayments to vendors?

Hi Gunther, you can definitely use this card overseas but it does charge a 2.50% fee per transaction. For auto-payments, you just have to set those up with the vendors to auto-debit.

Do I collect bonus points with the Coles no annual fee credit card when I spend money any where, or just when I spend at Coles?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    7 April 2021
Hi Goeff, there are no "bonus" points on the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard. But you earn Flybuys points (at the usual rate of 1 per $2 spent) for all eligible transactions - not just at Coles. The same goes for the minimum $1,000 spend to get $100 off a shop. Eligible transactions include most of your everyday purchases excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using flybuys Points and government related transactions.

Hi. I want to get 2000$ interest free credit to pay back in 6 to 12 months. Would you please guide me which credit line is suitable for me?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    19 March 2021
Hi Nil, there are lots of credit cards out there at the moment with 0% interest offers for 6-12 months. This Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is one of those cards offering 12 months interest-free right now, 19.99% p.a. after the first 12 months. It also offers an ongoing $0 annual fee, so if used correctly, this card could cost you nothing and you could borrow that $2,000 without having to pay interest or fees. You should also compare other cards with the features you're interested in (like rewards or balance transfers) and eligibility criteria that fits your circumstances. I hope that helps.

This would be our only credit card. We are on a full Pension with additional income from Super of $2300 per month. We have had a credit card with ANZ for years which they are closing and wish us to move to another card (apparently not making them enough money). We own our home and always pay off our card so as not to pay interest. When applying for this card they said not enough income and not to include the super. When I put the pension amount in we can go no further because we don't earn enough. Surely there is a way aound this because it is a very attractive card. Also we own two cars. We owe nothing at all.

Hi Jennifer, the minimum income requirement for the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is $25,000. For Coles credit cards, retirees and self-funded retirees need to provide one of the following documents during the application (plus your proof of address and proof of residency): Annual Superannuation Statement which includes an Indexed Pension Amount, or Most recent Pension statement, or Three months of personal bank statements showing regular credit or cash deposits, or Most recent Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Tax Returns less than 15 months old, or Letter from Superannuation Fund, or Most recent Notice of Assessment, or Latest Individual Income Tax Return. If you're having a tough time with the online application form, it's a good idea to give Coles a call at 1300 306 397 and see if they can help.

Hi, would I be approved for this Mastercard as I am on a Centrelink pension and draw a small amount from my superannuation pension total income $27,342pa? I currently have an ANZ credit card and pay it off in full at the end of each month. The annual fee is too high and I would like to go to a zero fee per year.

Can I transfer money into this credit card? Does this card have a BSB and Account Number? Can I use this card to take out cash if my account is in credit?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    4 March 2021
Hi Raed, assuming you meet all the eligibility requirements, yes, you can transfer a balance onto this credit card. It currently offers 0% p.a. for 12 months. Credit cards don't use the same BSB and account numbers as savings or transactions accounts. Usually the account number is the 16 digit card number. And yes, you can make cash advances on the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard.

    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    4 March 2021
Hi Snezana, there is no one "best" balance transfer for everyone. It depends on how long you need to pay off your debt (usually the longer the better - but a shorter offer where the card has more features could be more appealing), which card(s) your existing debt is on (you can't balance transfer between the same institutions) and the rates & fees (interest rates and annual fee you're willing to pay). I hope that helps you get started.

Hi, i am currently employed by NSW Health as a casual employee and have been since 28/11/2019. I have a mortgage with my partner and we have quite alot of equity. I have no other debts as i own my car. Would i be eligible to apply for a Coles Mastercard or would the fact that I am casual automatically decline my application?

    18 February 2021
Hi Renae, the employment requirement for the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is that you have permanent full-time or part-time employment, or are self employed. If you do not meet this criteria, it is not suggested that you apply for the card.
