The Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard

An awesome low cost credit card for Coles shoppers, the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard provides heaps of shopping-related perks, as well as some very attractive introductory offers – all with no annual fee, ever.

Whether you always shop at Coles, or even if you don’t visit Coles that often, the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard is a handy everyday credit card that lets you collect points as you spend. Is it enough for you, though? Let’s take a closer look to find out.

What we love...

When you take into account the fact that this card has no annual fee ever, that’s a pretty good deal indeed. As long as you pay off your balance month-to-month to avoid interest charges, you could be paying nothing for the card, while earning heaps in rewards or getting money off on your Coles shop. And the earn rate? That’s pretty simple too. You can collect 1 Flybuys point per $2 on eligible spend.

But that’s not all. With another introductory offer on the table, you could benefit from 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 18 months, allowing you to pay off existing credit card debt, while saving big on interest. 1.5% Balance Transfer fee applies. No interest free days apply while you have a balance transfer.

What’s not so great...

To be honest, there’s not much not to like about the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard. While it does have a relatively high rate of interest on cash advances and purchases, these can be avoided by paying off the balance month-to-month, and saying no to the cash advance feature.

Why should you choose this card?

As an everyday credit card, this is a simple option that allows you to save money while earning rewards. Plus, there are some very handy features on offer. As a cardholder, you can take advantage of up to 55 days interest free on purchases, allowing you to manage your spending while saving on interest.

Just be aware that to receive those interest free days, you need to pay off the balance each month, and have paid off any balance transfers onto the card.

For Coles shoppers, this is a very convenient card to have in your wallet. For starters, you have a credit card and Flybuys card in one, plus you can enjoy $10 off your Coles Supermarket shop instantly when you redeem 2,000 Flybuys points at the checkout.

Overall Rating

An excellent everyday rewards card for Coles shoppers, providing shopping-related perks and some great introductory offers with no annual fee.

I have used my new credit card many times but keep getting conflicting information about the $100 offer Today I was told that I had to spend over $100 to receive it. Other times I was told to spend any amount activates the $100 offer. Not happy.

I don't have an accountant and so can't get past that question?? Was told to put a 0 in there, that didn't work, and have tried everything but can't get past it?? What do I do?

Hi Beverly, so you put together your tax returns yourself? If this is the case, then you can list yourself as the accountant for the form. This could be a good hack for getting through the form.

Hi there, just wondering if I used the credit card to pay for my Coles grocery shopping would I still get 1 point for each $1 spent like I get when I scan my flybuy card?, or would it drop to 1 point per $2 dollar spend? or would I get 3 points per $2 spend (eg, the usual point per dollar, plus the 1 point for using the credit card to pay) Also, if I just paid for my Coles shop with cash in store, would I use the credit card on the scanner to receive usual 1 point per dollar spend ? Or use my existing flybuys card to get the points Hope those questions make sense.... thank you

    24 August 2020
Hi Sharon, I believe you would get the usual plus the extra from the card. Therefore 3 per dollar spent. If you paid cash, you can just use your existing flybuys card to get the points.

Hi, I have 2 questions around eligibility & process? I am 60 years old & on a pension - am I still eligible? Must I close my existing card - as it is connected to many things including my home loan?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    29 June 2020
Hi Michelle, its hard to get approval when a pensioner. You would need other income outside the pension. I do not advise you to close your current credit card. Just in case you will not be approved for this or another. Checking the eligibility you need employment for approval. Eligibility criteria. 18 years or older and a permanent Australian resident. Permanent full-time or part-time employment, or self employed. Earn a minimum income of $25,000 per year or more. Have a good credit rating. Have an Australian mobile phone number. Have your email address handy so you can receive electronic statements and other communications via email. Have your existing flybuys membership number ready (if you have one)

I'm using the Coles 'Mobile Wallet', to keep track of my spending, using the Coles 'No Annual Fee' Mastercard. It's good. I wish to set up a Direct Debit payment for the card, from my Bank. Within the Wallet, under Payments tab (at bottom of screen)- there are links to 'Bpay', & 'Pay Card' (red logo, with red tick over a stylized credit card). Is this a fast way to set up DD, with my bank?

Hi Allan, it is difficult to understand if you will get approved. Really only through applying can you know. The key is to make sure you meet all minimum requirements at least. Hello, my Mother [71] has been twice been refused for this card, yet my father [74] was accepted?.. Married 50yrs.. own home.. decent retirement funds.. yet she is "female".. is this a sexist thing?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    30 August 2019
Hi Sean, I am not aware of banks not approving applications based on sex. What cards has she applied for? When was her last application? What is her income on your NOA from the ATO? When you are older it can be harder to get approved. Though good that your father was approved at 74.

Hello, i want to use these credit cards as a business. Can i do that? I would need 3 cards
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    14 March 2019
Hi Carlie, if the card is going to be used for business only. Then I suggest that you review our business credit card options. Most reward programs on personal cards will state that you do not earn points on any business expenses. Though in reality this rarely seems to be enforced. Though with a business card then you are not personally liable. Many small businesses use personal cards for business expenses and seem to get away with the points earning.

Hi Barry, You can pay at the post office. An Over-the-Counter Transaction Fee of A$2.25. Cash and EFTPOS payments will be applied to your account on the day you make the transaction.

If I purchase something in march2019 using this card, will I still get 15 months interest free on that purchase? Does 15months interest free apply only to certain shops? How do I actually get the 15 months interest free for purchases?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    19 December 2018
Hi Adel, you have 15 months interest free on purchases from the time your card is approved. So if you get approved on Jan 1 - then you have until April 1 2019 interest free on purchases. So if you purchase something on April 1st, then you would get up to 1 year interest free. The interest free period applies to all purchases made during the intro period.

with the 15 months interest free purchase. IIf i paid for a holiday in January would i get this offer?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    5 December 2018
Hi Sean, you get 15 months interest free on purchases since your card activation. Therefore if you applied and were approved (and activated) in December for your Coles no annual fee credit card. Then you would have 14 months interest free left in Jan, 13 months in Feb and so on. You will not simply receive 0% for 15 months on all purchases. Just that period of time from activation that will have no interest on purchases. So yes you will get your holiday interest free in January. Through when the period runs out on your balance will be 15 months from card approval.

Hi Roland do you know if the low master card 15 month interest free treat Bpay as a Normal purchase or cash advance? thanks in advance
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    16 November 2018
Hi FER, it will depend how the BPAY merchant themselves handles the transaction. Though most bpay payments should be considered purchases. Thus enjoying the interest free period that comes with this Coles No Annual Fee special offer.
