at 81 years of age do i qualify for completely free travel insurance with which credit cards?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    8 March 2026
Hi Darrell, that’s a very important question. Many complimentary credit card travel insurance policies have age limits, but some do provide cover with no specified upper age limit, depending on the insurer and the policy terms. We’ve put together a helpful guide that outlines credit cards offering travel insurance with no age limit in 2026, along with important conditions to check carefully. Before relying on any cover, it’s essential to read the Product Disclosure Statement and confirm eligibility directly with the card issuer, as medical conditions and trip payment requirements can also affect cover. I hope that helps you explore your options with confidence.

I have Amex card provided by work. Do I qualify to apply for my own Amex card for personal use?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    20 January 2026
Hi Piya, good question! Holding a corporate American Express card through work doesn’t usually stop you from applying for your own personal American Express card. This will depend on whether the liability of the card is linked to you, the business or the applicant. However, eligibility for any personal card is always assessed by the issuer based on your own financial situation and credit history. You can browse the personal American Express cards we listed.

How do I cancel a visa card?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    22 December 2025
Hi Cathy, thanks for your message. To cancel a Visa credit card, you’ll need to contact the bank that issued the card directly. You'll be required to pay off any remaining balance first. The provider can also confirm if there are any final fees or steps to be aware of before complete closure. Your card issuer can confirm the exact steps for your account.

Is there a credit card that offers free travel insurance for domestic cruises? We have the Commonwealth Diamond Awards mastercard, which offers travel insurance for cruises to other countries from Australia, for a $20 fee, but not on domestic cruises in Australia. we have 3 domestic cruises booked for 2026 but have to buy travel insurance. This is really annoying to us. In early 2025, we cruised to Japan, a 21 day trip, and had free travel insurance under the Diamond Awards, but, in January 2026, we are going on a 3 night cruise to Eden but have no travel insurance. This is strange to us.

Hi Paul, that’s a good question. Most credit card travel insurance only covers overseas trips, and domestic cruises are usually excluded or have limited cover. You can check which cards include travel insurance in our Travel Insurance Credit Cards guide, which breaks down what’s covered and what’s not. I also go into details of cover in my card reviews too. For your Commonwealth Bank Diamond Awards Mastercard, it’s best to review the CommBank Travel Insurance PDS or call 13 22 21 to confirm your coverage for domestic cruises.

Hi George, great question. Several CommBank credit cards include complimentary international travel insurance, as long as you meet the eligibility steps (like activating cover or using your card for your trip). You can learn more about each card by clicking through and reading my review. I'll state whether or not it has travel insurance attached to it. You can check our credit card travel insurance guide also explains what to look out for.

Hi Christian, great question. It’s always smart to look for a card that gives you strong rewards and good travel insurance. The best option really depends on what matters most to you. Things like how often you travel, the type of cover you need, and how you plan to use your rewards. You might like to start by checking out our guide to credit cards with travel insurance. It covers what to look for and how policies differ between providers. If you want to dig deeper, you can also browse the cards on this page tto see which ones might suit your needs.

Can I apply forANZ Rewards Platinum - Velocity offer at a branch instead of online
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    15 October 2025
Hi Lorraine, good question! You can usually start your ANZ Rewards Platinum application online, but if you’d prefer to do it in person, it’s worth calling or visiting your local ANZ branch first. Some branches can help you complete or submit the application there.

Hi Pauline I have a Platinum MyCard which was City Bank now NAB. I have just been informed that they will not be providing international travel insurance as from April 2026 and we have used this insurance cover for many overseas holidays in the past and intend to continue to try and use this provision going forward for a couple more years into the future. I am 75 and a self funded retiree. Can you recommend a replacement Card that will cover me for what i require within my age range. Kind regards Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing that — I can see why this would be a concern if you’ve relied on the insurance for your trips. The Australian banking system has regulations to stop age based discrimination, but it can be trickier getting a credit card after a certain age. On my credit cards for pensioners page, I've listed out some of the bigger providers and their requirements. This can include showing an Annual Investment Statement, bank statements and or details of your accountant. If you’d like to see what else is out there, we’ve got a guide to credit cards with complimentary travel insurance that’s a good starting point. Just keep in mind each card has its own age limits and conditions, so it’s worth checking the fine print carefully and cross referencing the required credentials. Good luck Paul!
