Point calculations are accurate as of 8 October 2025 but may be subject to change without notice. All routes may have additional taxes and charges. Check on the official Westpac page for the updated calculations.

Offering the choice of three rewards programs, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is a flexible rewards card that combines strong earning potential with platinum-level perks. If you’re interested in earning Qantas Points, this card gives you access to a generous bonus offer and steady ongoing earn rates. Apply and be approved, then spend $4,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days to receive 75,000 bonus Qantas Points. A $75 Qantas Rewards fee applies annually when you choose to earn Qantas Points, along with a $175 annual card fee.

What we love…

The 75,000 bonus Qantas Points is a standout feature, giving you an excellent head start toward flights, upgrades, or shopping rewards. To unlock the 75,000 bonus Qantas Points, simply apply, get approved, and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval. Once you meet the spend requirement, the bonus points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within 12 weeks — ready to use on flights, upgrades, hotel stays, or your next big getaway.

Another great feature of the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is its flexibility. Cardholders can choose between the Altitude Rewards, Velocity, or the Qantas Rewards program—each with its own way to earn and redeem points.

Here we will look at the Altitude Qantas program and if you are interested in earning Altitude points, have a look here.

Qantas

If you opt for the Qantas Rewards option, you’ll earn:

  • 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 on international spend
  • 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 on everyday spend
  • 0.35 Qantas Points per $1 on all other purchases
  • 0.2 Qantas Points per $1 once you’ve spent over $5,000 in a statement cycle

You can also earn Qantas Points twice when shopping with Qantas Frequent Flyer program partners — once with your card and once with the partner.

Points can be redeemed within the Qantas Store for merchandise and gift cards, or on travel products such as flights and accommodation.

The 75,000 bonus Qantas Points can take you a long way. For example, you could fly from Perth to Singapore in economy (23,300 points) or even travel from Sydney to London in economy (63,500 points). If you prefer to use your points on everyday rewards, you could redeem around 54,450 Qantas Points for a $250 Woolworths WISH Digital Gift Card—making those bonus points just as handy for travel as they are for shopping.

What’s not so great…

As you will find with most platinum rewards cards, the interest charged on the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is not low. With both the purchase rate and cash advance rate being relatively high, it’s best to avoid cash advances and to clear your balance month-to-month.

As for points redemption, there are other credit cards on the market offering a higher earn rate on the Qantas program, but it’s up to you to work out which one offers the most back for your spend. With its reasonable annual fee, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card may just offer a more rewarding option.

Why should you choose this card?

If you want a rewards card that balances flexibility, travel perks, and premium benefits, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is a great pick. You’ll enjoy a strong 75,000 bonus Qantas Points offer, the ability to earn twice with Qantas partners, and a range of complimentary insurance covers, including overseas travel and extended warranty. You can also add one additional cardholder at no extra cost to boost your points earn.

Overall Rating

The Westpac Altitude Platinum Qantas Credit Card is a well-rounded rewards card offering 75,000 bonus Qantas Points, competitive earn rates, and valuable platinum benefits—ideal for those who love to travel and want more from their everyday spending.

In regard to the minimum criteria to apply, it states "Good Credit and have not applied for multiple credit cards recently". I need more specific information about how many recent cards would be too many. I have of course had a few cards from other banks over the past 18 months and do not want to effect my credit score when applying just to be turned down.

Hi there, I am looking at a Westpac Altitude Platinum credit card but have a couple of questions. It says you need to spend 4,000 on eligible purchases - what are these? i am looking to pay for a topdeck tour via credit card, would this count? And after the spend has been reached, how long does it take to receive the points? Thank you!

Thanks so much for answering my question, Roland! I am interested why this charge has only come in in the last three years, I've been with Westpac and Qantas for years and was never charged it before - maybe this happened when Westpac changed their cards over (Westpac's idea, not ours) from Visa to Mastercard about three years ago? Interestingly, my partner has an Earth Black card but doesn't get charged this fee, although he does pay $125 annual fee (I pay $150).

Hi Roland, can you please clarify the $50 Qantas Rewards fee - who is charging this, Westpac or Qantas, and how do they justify the charge? I have spoken to both companies, and each swears it's being charged by the other! thanks!

Hi there, I applied for and was approved for a Qantas Westpac Platinum card at the end of November and didn’t supply a Qantas FF membership as I haven’t joined Qantas FF. Am I too late? If I join today will they still credit the 60,000 bonus points I have qualified for? Are they back dated? Thanks :)
