The SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card

Shunning complex features, the SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card keeps its focus on money saving, allowing cardholders to keep costs down with low interest, a low annual fee and up to 55 days interest free on purchases. New cardholders can benefit from further money saving with the card’s intro offer, providing an intro rate of 8.00% p.a. for eight months on balance transfers.

What we love...

Appealing to new cardholders looking to save, the SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card is currently offering an introductory rate of 8.00% p.a. on balance transfers for eight months. If you have debt on your current credit cards that you want to pay off, you may be able to transfer that balance onto the SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card. Attracting that lower intro rate, your transferred balance may then be easier to clear, as you pay off more of what you owe. If you are unable to fully pay off your balance within the intro period, it will revert to the card’s low cash advance rate.

So, what can you expect from the card in the long term? Past that eight month intro period, the card works to keep costs down with a low ongoing rate for both purchases and cash advances. This could be of benefit if you carry a balance, or if you fail to pay off your balance transfer within the intro period.

If you clear your balance each month, however, you can keep costs down even further, with up to 55 days interest free on purchases. Note, this is not available when you have a balance transfer on your account. On top of that, the card has a nice low annual fee, making it a manageable option if you decide to keep the card over the long term.

What’s not so great...

Comparing the options, you may have noticed purchase offers and balance transfer offers that provide a much lower rate. While these could help you save more in interest, it’s worth thinking about how much those cards charge in annual fees, what the rates revert to at the end of the offer, and how well the card suits you in the longer term.

Why should you choose this card?

The SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card is a basic card. This could appeal to you if you are not interested in complex features, and even more so if you want to avoid paying for them. Cards with more features, such as rewards and extras, tend to have higher annual fees and interest. If all you want is access to credit, then there’s really no point paying a premium for features you’re not going to use.

However, the card does offer standard features found on all Visa cards. Aside from offering you access to Visa’s worldwide network, the card also provides added security with Verified by Visa, contactless payments via Visa payWave, and the ability you monitor your account with the bank’s app. The card also offers compatibility with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

Overall Rating

A no frills option that concentrates on money saving features, the SERVICE ONE Visa Credit Card offers a low ongoing annual fee and purchase rate, up to 55 days interest free on purchases, and an intro rate of 8.00% p.a. for eight months.
