The Bank First Platinum Credit Card

Despite being a platinum card, the Bank First Platinum Credit Card has a low ongoing purchase rate and a low annual fee, making it a great option for cardholders who want a little extra while still keeping costs low. Alongside access to the Visa Platinum concierge service, the card also offers up to 55 days interest-free on purchases.

What we love...

When a credit card gains recognition within the industry, it is often worth a second look. Awarded Outstanding Value within the Low Rate category by Canstar in 2018, and recognised within Mozo&rsquo's Experts Choice awards as a Low Rate Platinum Credit Card the same year, the Bank First Platinum Credit Card certainly seems to be a card with plenty to offer.

In terms of day-to-day interest, the card is designed to be a money-saver. Even though it is a platinum card – a type of card that tends to have higher rates – it has a much lower rate than many classic cards on the market. And, you can save even more with up to 55 days interest free on purchases as long as you clear your balance by the due date the previous month.

Carrying on with the money-saving theme, the card has a low annual fee for a platinum card, and it is has no ongoing fees. For its annual fee, cardholders can enjoy a few platinum perks, including complimentary overseas travel insurance. While you will need to read the PDS to find out whether this insurance offers the cover you need, it could provide a good way to save on standalone insurance, especially for those who travel frequently.

On top of that, you can unlock a range of discounts via Visa Platinum, on airport lounges, car rentals, hotels and more. The Visa Platinum personal concierge service is also available to you, which is on call 24/7 to assist you with everything from dinner reservations and theatre bookings, to organising gifts and travel arrangements.

What’s not so great...

With the word ‘platinum’ comes certain expectations. When you choose a platinum card, you expect a bevvy of tantalising extras, and perhaps even rewards. But, there are different grades of platinum card, with lower grades offering fewer features for lower annual fees, and higher grades offering fancier extras for higher annual fees.

As a low rate card with a relatively low annual fee, the Bank First Platinum Credit Card is not one that will bowl you over with extras. But, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its place in the credit card game. With this card, you can enjoy an awesomely low purchase rate for a reasonable annual fee, while benefitting from some very useable perks. Whether those perks are the ones you want should help you decide whether the card is right for you.

Why should you choose this card?

Unlike so many platinum cards, the Bank First Platinum Credit Card has a super low purchase rate. This can make it a great choice for cardholders who tend to carry a balance month to month, helping them to save on the amount of interest they pay out. If you want to keep costs low with an affordable annual fee and a low purchase rate, while still enjoying a bit of that platinum sparkle, this could be the card for you.

Overall Rating

The Bank First Platinum Credit Card is an award-winning platinum card that has a seriously low rate and affordable annual fee with plenty of platinum perks to offer.
