The Great Southern Bank Low Rate Credit Card

If you are looking for a simple low rate card with a low annual fee, the Great Southern Bank Low Rate Credit Card ticks those boxes. The rate on purchases is a low 11.99% p.a. and the annual fee of $49 is waived the first year.

What we love...

First up, the purchase rate which is up there with the lowest in the market. You also get the standard up to 55 days interest free on your purchases if you don't carry a balance on the card. If you need to move over an existing credit card debt from another bank or issuer, you can take advantage of the introductory balance transfer offer of 0% p.a. for the first 33 months. There is no balance transfer fee to pay and while it is not the longest 0% balance transfer offer available, you still have 33 months to pay off your debt. Don't leave it on there any longer though as any unpaid balance after this period will accrue the cash advance rate of 21.74% p.a.

For the low $49 annual fee you can add up to 9 additional cardholders at no extra cost. The annual fee is waived the first year.

What’s not so great...

As mentioned previously, the balance transfer offer reverts to the high cash advance rate after 33 months.

The difference with this low rate card is the purchase insurance - if you use your card alot you can get some really good value on the protection thrown in - theft, loss or damage up to 90 days after you\'ve bought something
