Bendigo credit card changes from November 2026: what’s changing

Last updated

Pauline Hatch

Bendigo Bank is changing how its Platinum Rewards and Qantas Platinum cards earn points from 23 November 2026. The Qantas card will also cost more each year, so it’s worth checking what you’ll actually get from your usual spending.

Key numbers

  • 23 November 2026: the announced start date.
  • $50 extra a year: the Qantas Platinum annual fee rises from $149 to $199.

Methodology: current details checked against our card pages and Bendigo Bank’s change notice on 4 November 2026. Examples multiply eligible spending by the stated earn rate.

What is changing on the two cards?

Here’s the before and after. Bendigo Rewards points and Qantas Points belong to different programs, so their numbers aren’t a like-for-like measure of value.

Feature Now From 23 November 2026
Platinum Rewards domestic earn 1.5 Bendigo Rewards points per $1 1.0 point per $1
Platinum Rewards international earn 1.5 Bendigo Rewards points per $1 2.0 points per $1
Qantas Platinum eligible earn 0.6 Qantas Points per $1 0.5 Qantas Points per $1
Qantas Platinum annual fee $149 $199

Platinum Rewards stays uncapped. The Qantas cap stays at 20,000 points per statement period. Bendigo says core benefits and complimentary insurances remain unchanged; eligibility and policy conditions still matter.

Bendigo rewards earn rates before and from 23 November 2026, also listed in the comparison table

From 23 November 2026, Platinum Rewards earns 1.0 point per $1 domestically and 2.0 internationally, compared with 1.5 today. Qantas Platinum drops from 0.6 to 0.5 Qantas Points per eligible $1; its 20,000-point statement-period cap stays the same, while Platinum Rewards remains uncapped.

Which cards are affected?

The notice covers the Bendigo Platinum Rewards Credit Card and the Bendigo Bank Qantas Platinum Credit Card. It isn’t a notice for every Bendigo card.

If you hold one, read the formal notification Bendigo sends you. The public announcement gives a start date but doesn’t explain when an existing account will first be charged the higher annual fee. Ask the bank how it applies to your renewal rather than assuming a charge will land on 23 November.

What does it mean for your everyday spending?

Let’s use $2,000 of eligible spending. These are illustrations of points earned, not a suggested spending target:

  • Platinum Rewards, all domestic: $2,000 × 1.5 earns 3,000 Bendigo Rewards points now. At 1.0, it earns 2,000: a drop of 1,000 points.
  • Platinum Rewards, all international: $2,000 × 1.5 earns 3,000 points now. At 2.0, it earns 4,000: an increase of 1,000 points before considering fees.
  • Qantas Platinum: $2,000 × 0.6 earns 1,200 Qantas Points now. At 0.5, it earns 1,000: a drop of 200 points.

Points earned on $2,000 of eligible spending before and after the changes, with every calculation explained in the text

Card and spending Points before Points from 23 November 2026
Platinum Rewards: $2,000 all domestic 3,000 Bendigo Rewards points 2,000 Bendigo Rewards points
Platinum Rewards: $2,000 all international 3,000 Bendigo Rewards points 4,000 Bendigo Rewards points
Qantas Platinum: $2,000 eligible spend 1,200 Qantas Points 1,000 Qantas Points

On $2,000 of eligible spending, Platinum Rewards changes from 3,000 to 2,000 points for domestic purchases or from 3,000 to 4,000 for international purchases. Qantas Platinum changes from 1,200 to 1,000 Qantas Points. International transaction fees still apply.

If your spending is mostly groceries and bills in Australia, the higher international rate may do little for you. Work from your own statements. There’s no need to rearrange your shopping just to make a rewards card look better on paper.

⛔

More international points don’t mean fee-free spending. Standard international transaction fees still apply. Check the bank’s fee schedule before treating the higher earn rate as a saving.

Should you keep the card or compare alternatives?

Start with what you use. A card can still be useful if its benefits suit you, but points alone don’t settle the question. Compare the ongoing cost with the rewards you can realistically redeem. Include any separately charged program fee when comparing other cards.

Our rewards credit card comparison and Qantas credit card comparison can help you check alternatives. Look beyond the welcome offer to the ongoing earn rate and fees. If you carry a balance, give interest costs plenty of weight too.

⭐

Pauline’s tip: Pick a normal month from your statements and run the new earn rate over it. That is a more useful starting point than guessing how much you might spend next year.

“A rewards card should fit the spending you already do. You shouldn’t have to spend more to justify keeping it.”

Final tips before the changes start

Keep your notification handy and check the next statement against it. Before switching, ask about pending points and any benefits you rely on. Then make the decision with the full cost in view, not just the points balance.
