What we love...

Receive 75,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points when you spend $1,000 on eligible purchases on your new American Express Gold Business Card within 2 months of the card approval date. Card Members must enrol in the Membership Rewards program at the time of application to be eligible to get the bonus point offer. The 75,000 bonus points will be awarded to the eligible card member’s account 8-10 weeks after the spending criteria have been met, provided the account is in good standing.

This gold business charge card from American Express comes with no pre-set spending limit to give your business the flexibility to make purchases as needed. You have up to 51 days to pay for your purchases which allows you to extend your business cash flow. Also, you won’t be charged any interest on the balance as it is paid in full each month.

If you need more time to pay off your statement you can use Amex's Flexible Payment Option (FPO) to pay your a portion of your balance in instalments. When you apply, you'll be given a maximum amount you can use towards a FPO (much like a credit card limit, but for the amount you can allocate to flexible repayments). If you don't pay your statement in time, your interest-free days will be forfeit and an automatic FPO will be set up and charged interest until it's paid off in full. FPO's are charged at either the normal purchase rate or the rate specified on your monthly statement and may include other fees.

For an additional $80 p.a. you can enrol to Membership Rewards Ascent program and earn 1.5 points for every $1 spent, except government spend in Australia where you will earn 1 point for every $1 spent. Another feature worth mentioning is the $75 credit from Dell Technologies. Cardholders can enjoy up to $150 in credit a year (that's $75 credit twice a year - between 1st January and 30th June and between 1st July and 31st December each year). To take advantage of this offer, all you need to do is enrol your card and spend with Dell Technologies.

As for insurance this card comes with Travel Inconvenience Cover that will cover you for flight delays, missed connections or delayed luggage when you purchase your trip on your card.

What’s not so great...

The annual fee of $169 is quite high and there is an optional $80 p.a. Membership Rewards program enrolment fee. Additionally, adding new cardholders is a pain to the business as it charges an annual fee of $119 per Employee Card.
