The St.George Vertigo Rainbow Credit Card

St.George has come out with a limited colourful rainbow design edition so you can show your support for the LGBTQI community. This has similar features to the Vertigo everyday card but in a colorful design with a purpose.

What we love...

St.George Vertigo Rainbow Credit Card is a no-frills credit card loaded with money-saving features. This has a low ongoing rate of 13.99% p.a. on purchases.

You will also enjoy 55 interest-free days on purchases when you clear your monthly payment balance on time and in full per statement.

Additionally, this card offers its new card members the longest promotional balance transfer offer in the market of 0.99% p.a. for the first 28 months, with 1% balance transfer fee. After the offer period ends, the variable cash advance rate applies. The promotional balance transfer rate is available when you apply and are approved for a new St.George Vertigo Rainbow Credit Card by 30 November 2024, and request at card application to transfer balance(s) from up to 3 non-St.George, Bank of Melbourne, and BankSA Australian issued credit, charge or store cards.

Another money saving feature is the affordable ongoing annual fee of $55. Plus, add an extra card holder without any fees.

What’s not so great...

The cons of this card relate to the balance transfer offer. You may only be able to transfer up to 80% of your approved credit limit, and you cannot transfer balances from other St.George, BankSA or Bank of Melbourne cards. Plus, make sure to clear your balances before the promotional period ends as the rate reverts to a heaping 21.99% p.a. variable cash advance rate.

Why should you choose this card?

St.George Vertigo Rainbow Credit Card highlights the support of inclusiveness while enjoying the card’s enticing features. Aside from the promotional offers, this also provides a low minimum credit limit, 24/7 Fraud monitoring, secure online shopping and compatibility with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

In terms of tech, cardholders can also benefit from card block and quick balance, allowing them to block their card for up to 15 days when they misplace it, and check the balance of up to two accounts at a glance on the St.George mobile banking app, without having to log in.

Overall Rating

A low cost card that acts as a real money-saver, providing 0.99% p.a. on balance transfers for 28 months, and low annual fee. Getting this card is another way to show your support to the LGBTQI community.

Hi, I am on a de facto visa and my permanent residency kicks in from feb 2020. Am I best to wait for the PR to kick in before applying? Thanks

Hi Katie, generally speaking I would say you might as well wait. Being towards the end of a Visa can cause some issues for approval.

Hi Roland, I'm new to this balance transfer idea. If I am approved a card limit of $12,000 using the transfer The St.George Vertigo Rainbow Credit Card, and the amount owing on the card is 9,100 - what would be my minimum monthly repayment? Thankyou
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    13 August 2018
Hi Sarah, with all credit cards you need to make minimum monthly payments. That is even if you are not paying any interest. The minimum monthly payments are 2% on this credit card. Therefore if you had a $9,100 balance that would be $182. A balance transfer makes sense as you can focus on paying down the debt rather than interest. Its a good idea to put a plan in place to pay the debt down in the 0% interest period.
