Pros and cons

  • Rich Qantas Points earn rates: Up to 1.5 Qantas Points per $1 on selected travel, dining and international spend, plus solid earn at major supermarkets, petrol outlets and national retailers.
  • Generous lounge access: 15 Priority Pass lounge visit entitlements per membership year can be shared between you and accompanying guests, adding comfort to regular travel.
  • Valuable hotel and ride-share perks: The 4th Night on Us Luxury Escapes benefit (up to $1,000 per booking, up to four times per year) and annual Uber Premier $100 cashback can significantly offset the annual fee for frequent users.
  • Comprehensive protection: Complimentary overseas travel insurance, purchase cover, extended warranty, rental vehicle excess cover and mobile phone insurance provide strong peace of mind when eligibility requirements are met.
  • Premium travel offers: Ongoing discounts with partners such as Luxury Escapes, Expedia and Wotif on eligible bookings can deliver extra savings for regular travellers.
  • No points expiry while in good standing: Points earned via the card do not expire while your account remains open and in good standing, making it easier to save for big redemptions.

  • The $749 p.a. annual fee is high, so you need to maximise lounge visits, hotel credits, cashback and insurances each year to get full value.
  • Purchase and cash advance rates above 22% p.a. make this card unsuitable for carrying a balance — it’s designed for cardholders who pay off in full each month.
  • A 3.5% foreign transaction fee reduces the appeal of using the card overseas, even with the higher international Qantas Points earn rate.
  • The minimum credit limit of $20,000 targets higher-income or higher-spend customers and may be more credit than some users are comfortable with.
  • The tiered earn structure, based on merchant type and location, adds complexity and may make it harder to predict your exact points haul.
  • Rewards are locked to Qantas Points, so if you prefer flexible bank rewards or other airline programs, this card may not suit your strategy.

Overall Rating

The MyCard Prestige Qantas Credit Card is a fully-fledged premium travel card. It combines high Qantas Points earn rates, generous lounge access and valuable extras like 4th Night on Us and Uber Premier cashback with comprehensive insurance cover. For frequent travellers who already fly often with Qantas, stay in hotels regularly and can put substantial spend through their card while paying it off in full, the value can be impressive.

However, the card’s benefits are very much “use it or lose it”. If you don’t take advantage of the lounge visits, hotel credits, insurance and partner discounts, the $749 annual fee is hard to justify — especially given the high interest rates and foreign transaction fee.

What I Love About the MyCard Prestige Qantas Credit Card

Serious Qantas earn power: The ability to earn up to 1.5 Qantas Points per $1 on key categories like travel, dining and international spend makes this card attractive for Qantas loyalists funnelling their everyday and travel spend through one account.

Airport lounge comfort: 15 Priority Pass visits per year (for you and accompanying guests) meaningfully enhance the airport experience and can, on their own, cover a large chunk of the annual fee if used regularly.

Real-world perks: The 4th Night on Us benefit and annual Uber Premier cashback are perks that many regular travellers will naturally use, rather than theoretical extras that look good on paper but rarely get redeemed.

Strong protection package: A broad suite of complimentary insurances, including overseas travel and mobile phone cover, adds peace of mind as long as you meet the eligibility requirements and understand the limits and exclusions.

What’s Not So Great

The main drawback is cost. The high annual fee and above-average interest rates mean this is not a “set and forget” card for casual users — it’s a product you actively work to get value from. If you don’t fly often, aren’t excited about lounge access or don’t regularly book longer hotel stays, a cheaper Qantas or rewards card could make more sense.

The 3.5% foreign transaction fee also dampens the appeal for spending overseas, even though international purchases earn at the highest points rate. And with multiple earn tiers depending on merchant category and location, you may need to keep an eye on what’s earning what to avoid disappointment.

Who Suits the MyCard Prestige Qantas Credit Card?

This card best suits:

  • High-income Qantas Frequent Flyer members who travel frequently for work or leisure.
  • Cardholders who book flights and hotels directly with major airlines and hotel chains.
  • People who will use lounge access, hotel perks, Uber cashback and insurance every year.
  • Disciplined spenders who pay their balance in full each month to avoid interest.

If you fit that profile and you’re comfortable with the $749 annual fee, the MyCard Prestige Qantas Credit Card can deliver strong Qantas Points earning potential and a noticeably more comfortable travel experience.

Verdict: MyCard Prestige Qantas Credit Card

Best for: Qantas Frequent Flyer members who travel often, charge high annual spend to their card and can fully use lounge access, hotel credits, cashback and insurance while paying their balance in full.

Why we like it: It offers a powerful mix of high Qantas Points earn rates and tangible, premium travel perks. Used strategically, the value from lounge visits, hotel nights, ride-share credit and insurance can outweigh the annual fee.

Consider if: You’re comfortable with a high annual fee in exchange for richer benefits and you’re focused on building or maintaining a healthy Qantas Points balance.

Not ideal for: Occasional travellers, low-spend users, or anyone who prefers low-fee or low-rate cards without complex rewards structures.
