Editor’s Overall Rating

The Latitude Low Rate Mastercard – No Annual Fee Offer is built for people who want to test-drive a low-cost credit card with minimal upfront commitment. With no annual fee for the first year and a 13.99% p.a. purchase rate, it combines affordability with a few useful extras that make it more than just a basic low-rate card.

Editor’s Review: What I love about this card

What makes this card stand out is its balance of value in the first year with a genuinely competitive ongoing purchase rate. While many “no fee” cards charge high interest, and many “low rate” cards add annual fees, this offer manages to give you both for at least the first 12 months. That makes it appealing if you’re unsure about committing long-term and want to trial a card without paying upfront fees.

Beyond the core rate, I like the practical extras Latitude includes. Earning 3% back in Latitude Rewards on recurring bills helps you squeeze value out of payments you’d be making anyway — utilities, streaming, and phone bills. Add in free E-Commerce Purchase Protection, and the card feels safer for regular online shopping. Plus, digital wallet support and free additional cardholder access are handy touches that make it family-friendly and easy to integrate into everyday spending.

What’s not so great

The biggest drawback is that the $69 annual fee kicks in from year two. At that point, you’ll need to decide whether the ongoing rewards and low interest rate justify the cost. Rewards are also quite limited — only bill payments earn the 3% back, so it’s not a general rewards card. And while the card covers online purchase protection, it doesn’t include broader insurances like travel or extended warranty.

Other extras

Applications are straightforward online, with Latitude usually giving an instant response. Once approved, you can use your digital card right away through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other wallets. Overall, this is a good entry-level low-rate card with a year of fee-free breathing space — ideal for people dipping their toes into credit or those who want to trial Latitude before paying an ongoing fee.
