The Westpac BusinessChoice Everyday Mastercard

While some business credit cards are chock-full of fancy extras and complicated rewards programs, others business offerings prefer to keep it simple, offering just what’s needed, in an everyday kind of way. Much like the Westpac BusinessChoice Everyday Mastercard, for example.

Helping business owners save money with a lower annual fee and lower rates of interest on cash advances and purchases, this card provides only what’s needed. Cardholders can benefit from easier cashflow with access to credit, plus some essential features. Easy as that!

What we love...

Designed to be easier on the pocket than gold or platinum business cards, the Westpac BusinessChoice Everyday Mastercard is a simple card with very few frills. In terms of money-saving, this card offers a two-pronged point of attack.

First up, the card has a relatively low annual fee, charging $75 per year for each card on the account. However, further savings can be made. Each card with a spend of more than $15,000 within the year will have its annual fee waived in the subsequent year.

The second way this card can help keep costs low is with its relatively low rate of interest on cash advances and purchases. Businesses that tend to hold a balance month-to-month could save on interest with this low rate option, however, clearing the balance is recommended whenever possible.

What’s not so great...

To be honest, there’s not much to complain about with this card. While it’s best to check the small print before applying, this card is pretty forthcoming on what it does and doesn’t offer.

As a low cost card, it obviously doesn’t offer the headlining features that more expensive cards do. There are no flashy extras or rewards programs, but the card does have the potential to save money, while offering handy features that most businesses would find convenient.

Why should you choose this card?

Choosing this card will come down to necessity. What do you need from your business credit card and what are you willing to pay for it? To help you make the right decision, let’s go over some of the essentials on how this card works.

Unlike some business cards, the Westpac BusinessChoice Everyday Mastercard does not offer personal liability. Instead liability is shared jointly or severally by the business principals who make the application.

Jointly or severally liable for all amounts outstanding on the account, these applicants can choose which employees will be cardholders, with up to 99 cards linked within one account. Individual card credit limits start from $1,000, with full tracking of each card's activities available.

In terms of features on offer, the card provides complimentary unauthorised transaction insurance, transit accident insurance and flight inconvenience insurance, as well as up to 55 days interest free on purchases, easy tax reporting and analysis of business transactions related to the card.

Our church holds 3 of these cards, with the overall limit set at 10K and each individual card set at various limits. Can we increase the overall limit and make changes to the individual card limits?

Hi John, nothing that has the same benefits as the Earth Black on the Westpac side. What type of features are you looking for and how much spend will be done a month?
