The P&N Bank Visa Classic Credit Card

Available to existing P&N Bank members and those who reside in Western Australia, the P&N Bank Visa Classic Credit Card is a low cost card with a low ongoing purchase rate, a low annual fee and up to 45 days interest free on purchases. Providing worldwide acceptance via the Visa network, the card also offers access to functional Visa features such as Verified by Visa, Visa payWave and Visa Zero Liability.

What we love...

Let’s talk interest first. One of the main reasons to choose a card such as this is to save on interest. The P&N Bank Visa Classic Credit Card offers a nice, low ongoing purchase rate, making it very appealing to cardholders who tend to carry a balance. Instead of accruing interest at a higher rate on a more expensive card, cardholders can save on interest with this card’s lower rate, to potentially pay off their balance faster.

When they do this, another of the card’s money-saving features comes into play. Cardholders who clear their balance each month by the due date can benefit from up to 45 days interest free on purchases. So, as long as they are smart with their spending – and they make sure to pay off their spending by the due date – they can effectively keep interest costs at zero.

As you might expect from a low cost card, the P&N Bank Visa Classic Credit Card also has a low annual fee. Saving on annual fees can feel great. It means you’re not paying for any extra features that you’re not actually using, and it allows you to put those savings to better use. That could mean paying off your balance, or it could mean a lovely lunch with friends.

So, we’ve already established that this card is not big on features. That tends to be the way with credit cards – low fee cards are low on features, while higher annual fee cards offer more. But, that’s not to say this card is completely lacking in extras. As it is a Visa, you can benefit from faster payments with Visa payWave, and more security with Visa Zero Liability and Verified by Visa.

P&N Bank also offer full card controls, allowing you to manage your card, put a temporary lock on it, or turn features like online transactions, overseas purchases and Visa payWave on and off with ease. You can also sync your card with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay to use your device to tap and go.

What’s not so great...

P&N Bank restricts applications on the P&N Bank Visa Classic Credit Card to those who live in Western Australia, or those who are already P&N Bank members. If you don’t fit within these categories, you cannot apply for this card.

Why should you choose this card?

Aside from meeting the bank’s geographical requirements for application, you must also meet its eligibility criteria. That means being an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 or over, with a regular income. As long as you meet these requirements, this could be the perfect card for you if you want a money-saver in your wallet.

If you carry a balance, you could save on interest, and if you clear your balance you could keep your interest costs at zero with the card’s interest free feature. If you want to pay less in annual fees, this card could make that happen. If you want a card that keeps things simple, this card is a no frills option that could make you very happy indeed.
