Citi Rewards Card - Cashback Offer Review

True to its name, Citi Rewards Card is currently helping its consumers put more money back in their pockets on their purchases while giving money saving offers. New cardholders will enjoy all the premium perks and benefits with a discounted annual fee of $99 in the first year. These full packed offers and benefits include $400 cashback on eligible purchases, 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 15 months, complimentary mobile phone insurance, retail and travel insurance covers, and uncapped Citi reward Points earning.

What we love...

Citi is rewarding more its consumers by launching new attractive offers through its Citi Rewards Card. Save big and earn more benefits as we talk about each of the features of this card.

First up, the cashback. You will receive $400 cashback when you apply for the Citi Rewards Card by 30 November 2022, then spend at least $2,000 on eligible purchases using your new card through Apple Pay or another eligible digital wallet within 90 days from approval. Another eligible wallet is Samsung Pay. After meeting the minimum spend requirement, the $400 amount will be credited to your account within 16 weeks.

Next is the balance transfer offer. This is one of the money saving features of this card and targets to help you manage your balances by creating your desired repayment plans and clear off your debt faster. Citi Rewards Card offers 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 15 months with no balance transfer fee. Citi allows you to transfer up to 80% of your approved credit limit, giving you some grace time on card spending and interest. As with any balance transfer offer, there are no interest-free days on purchases until the balance transfer has been paid off.

Plus, you can enjoy all these benefits with a reduced annual fee for a year. Pay $99 only in the first year, $149 thereafter. Take advantage of this offer and save a lot of your interest costs.

Other benefits on the list include earning uncapped Citi reward Points on eligible transactions, up to 55 days interest-free on retail purchases, complimentary mobile phone insurance, retail and travel insurance covers, and security features.

What’s not so great...

Usually, great benefits come with great costs therefore cardholders should be cautious enough in getting into transactions using this card after the promotional period ends as the standard ongoing rates are quite expensive. Balance transfer offer rate reverts to the cash advance rate of 22.24% p.a. Additionally, purchase rate is also currently a heaping 21.49% p.a.

You may add up to four additional cardholders but it’s very costly at $90 each.

Why should you choose this card?

You don’t need to worry about getting rewards after the promotional period ends because Citi provides uncapped earning of Citi reward Points on your everyday purchases.

  • Earn 1 Citi rewards Point per $1 on all eligible transactions made overseas or online with a merchant that is based overseas
  • Earn 1 Citi rewards Point per $1 on all eligible transactions in Australia (up to $10,000 per statement period)
  • Earn 1 Citi rewards Point per $1 on all eligible transactions using Citi PayAll
  • Earn 2 Citi rewards Points per $1 on all eligible transactions made using the Linked Diners Club Card

Now, let’s talk about the many ways to use your points.

  • Pay with Points: Use your points to pay eligible purchases and receive a credit back.
  • Shop with Points: You can use your points to pay when shopping at Kogan.
  • Travel: Access the Citi Travel Portal to use your points to book flights, hotels, car hire, activities or even create your own itinerary.
