The Citi Rewards Credit Card Review — Velocity Points Offer

Collect up to 90,000 bonus Velocity Points via Points Autosweep60,000 after you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval, plus 30,000 when you keep the card open for over 12 months. Offer ends 23 October 2025. T&Cs apply.

What we love…

  • Big bonus, clear path: 60k after $5k/3 months + 30k after 12 months, credited to Velocity with Points Autosweep.
  • Simple everyday earn: 1 Citi reward Point per $1 on eligible international spend (uncapped) and 1 point per $1 on eligible domestic spend (capped at $10,000 per statement period).
  • Velocity your way: convert manually at 2.5 Citi reward Points = 1 Velocity Point or set-and-forget with Autosweep.
  • Useful protections: Mobile Phone Insurance, plus Purchase Cover and Extended Warranty on eligible purchases.
  • Handy partner offers: up to 15% off Luxury Escapes & 10% off tours (book by 1 Mar 2026), 10% off selected hotels with Expedia/Wotif (book by 31 Jan 2026, stay by 30 Jun 2026), and $10 BINGE cashback per month until 31 Oct 2025. Works with Apple Pay, Google Pay & Samsung Pay. T&Cs apply.

What’s not so great

  • Domestic cap: the 1 pt/$1 rate only applies up to $10,000 eligible domestic spend per statement period.
  • Autosweep setup: you must provide a valid Velocity number and enrol in Points Autosweep to receive the bonus in Velocity Points.
  • Interest can erase value: best value when you pay the statement in full to keep interest at $0 and preserve up to 44 days interest-free on retail purchases.

Why should you choose this card?

Pick this if you want a straightforward earn into Velocity without a premium-tier annual fee — and your spend pattern fits the rules.

  • You can comfortably hit $5,000 in eligible spend within 3 months and keep the card beyond 12 months to capture the full 90k bonus.
  • You spend online/overseas (uncapped earn) and can keep domestic spend within the $10k per statement cap.
  • You’ll use the built-in protections (especially Mobile Phone Insurance) and plan to leverage the hotel/streaming deals before their end dates.
  • You value flexibility: Pay with Points, Shop with Points (Apple, Kogan) or convert to Velocity at 2.5:1 — with Autosweep for convenience.

How the points earning works

  • International spend: 1 Citi reward Point per $1 (uncapped).
  • Domestic spend: 1 Citi reward Point per $1 (capped at $10,000 per statement period).
  • Convert to Velocity: manual 2.5 Citi Points = 1 Velocity Point or automatic monthly conversion via Points Autosweep.
  • Redemptions: Pay with Points (statement credit) and Shop with Points (Apple, Kogan) also available.

Dates & reminders

  • Velocity bonus offer ends: 23 October 2025.
  • Luxury Escapes: up to 15% off hotels & 10% off tours — book by 1 March 2026.
  • Expedia/Wotif: 10% off selected hotels — book by 31 January 2026, stay by 30 June 2026.
  • BINGE cashback: $10/month until 31 October 2025 (Standard or Premium plans).

Overall Rating

A clean 1:1 earn structure (with a domestic cap), a clear path to 90,000 Velocity Points, and genuinely useful inclusions like Mobile Phone Insurance make this a strong everyday rewards pick. Switch on Points Autosweep, meet the $5k/3-month target, keep the account open past 12 months, and maximise value by paying in full each month — all before the 23 October 2025 cutoff.

Hi, are we able to set the credit limit on a credit card (Citi Rewards Credit Card – Velocity Points Offer), so it won't affect our borrowing limit for a loan?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    25 September 2024
Hi Anh, the bank sets your credit limit based on several factors, including your ability to pay, credit score, and other financial considerations. But, usually you’ll be asked what credit limit you want when you apply, and you can often request a lower credit limit after you’re approved (as long as it’s not lower than the card’s minimum credit limit). Thanks!

I’m looking for a card to use when on holidays that I can earn flybuys points to use with Virgin Airlines
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    23 May 2023
Hi Adrian, there’s just a number of credit cards that lets you earn flybuys points. You can check out a range of Coles credit cards that directly earn flybuys points. You can also transfer rewards points from Citi credit cards and NAB Rewards points into flybuys points too. If you’ll be using these cards while travelling, it might be worth looking at cards that feature no foreign transaction fees too. You’ll be able to read our reviews of each card to see what the rates, fees and features are to help you make an informed decision. Hope this has helped!
