The Bank of Melbourne Amplify Signature Credit Card - Qantas

New cardholders can earn up to 150,000 bonus Qantas Points with the Bank of Melbourne Amplify Signature Credit Card – 90,000 points in year 1 when you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval, plus 60,000 points when you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of your card anniversary in year 2. If you are interested in earning Amplify points instead please see the Bank of Melbourne Amplify Signature Credit Card with Amplify Rewards.

What we love...

The bonus points offer is a key highlight. With up to 150,000 Qantas Points available, frequent flyers could unlock meaningful travel value. To earn the first 90,000 bonus Qantas Points, you’ll need to spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval. Once you meet the spend requirement, the points will be credited to your account within 12 weeks.

To earn the additional 60,000 Qantas Points in year 2, you’ll need to spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of your card anniversary in the second year.

In terms of ongoing earn, the card offers 1.2 Qantas Points per $1 on international spend, 0.8 Qantas Points per $1 on everyday purchases, and 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 on all other eligible purchases. Once you spend $10,000 in a statement cycle, the earn rate drops to 0.25 Qantas Points per $1 on further eligible purchases. You can also earn points through Qantas Frequent Flyer partners, meaning you may earn points both through your card and the partner program.

Cardholders also receive two complimentary Qantas Lounge passes each year, providing access to selected Qantas lounges when flying with Qantas or Jetstar.

What’s not so great...

This is a premium rewards card, and the annual fee reflects that. Cardholders should consider whether the points earned and benefits received outweigh the ongoing cost of the card.

There is also a $75 annual Qantas Rewards fee if you choose to earn Qantas Points through the Amplify Qantas rewards program.

Additionally, with relatively high purchase and cash advance interest rates, this card is best suited to those who can pay off their balance in full each month to avoid interest charges.

Why should you choose this card?

This card may suit frequent travellers and higher spenders who want to earn Qantas Points on everyday purchases while accessing travel-related perks. The combination of bonus points, lounge access, and complimentary insurance may offer value if used effectively.

Cardholders can also add an additional cardholder at no extra cost, which may help consolidate spending into one account.

In addition to travel perks, the card includes a range of complimentary insurance covers such as overseas travel insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, interstate flight inconvenience insurance, and transit accident insurance. As with all credit card insurance, eligibility criteria, limits and exclusions apply, so it’s important to review the Product Disclosure Statement.

Overall Rating

The Bank of Melbourne Amplify Signature Credit Card offers a strong combination of bonus Qantas Points and premium features. With up to 150,000 bonus Qantas Points available and ongoing earn rates across everyday and international spend, it may appeal to those who meet the spending criteria and can make use of the card’s travel benefits. As always, consider the fees and eligibility requirements before applying.

Is buying gift cards count towards the $6000 eligible purchase?

Hi Vuzilla, sure as long as they are not cash cards and used for general purchases then they should be eligible. Cards such as JB Hifi or Bunnings etc. Not cash gift cards that are basically a perpaid visa or mastercard.

Hi Tim, with the Amplify Signature credit card bonus points offer. You need to spend at least $6,000 on eligible purchases made with the card within 90 days of card approval. Its a much lower $2,000 on eligible purchases on an Amplify Platinum Qantas credit card to receive the points. The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.
