Overall rating
While this card “only” earns 8,000 bonus Qantas Points, it’s not a bad deal considering the annual fee is less than a hundred bucks (especially compared to other cards in the frequent flyer rewards space).
It still has the essential travel benefits like travel insurance and even concierge services, so as long as you don’t mind missing out on lounge passes then this card might give you just what you need.

This is a decent card for earning Qantas Points and keeping costs low. Let’s look at the points you can earn first, starting with the 8,000 bonus points.
Bonus points: You’ll earn 8,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $3,000 or more on eligible purchases within 3 months of card approval.
✏ Note: You won’t earn bonus points if you already hold or have earned points on any of these cards in the previous 12 months: Qantas Money Everyday, Qantas Money Platinum or Qantas Money Titanium.
Qantas says that these purchases aren’t eligible to earn points: “Any purchase excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi branded accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Qantas Points and government related transactions. Government related transactions include transactions with government or semi government entities, or relating to services provided by or in connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court related costs).”

Extra points per dollar: You can also earn 1 bonus Qantas Point on eligible Qantas products. Eligibility: to give you an idea, all travellers must be 79 years old or younger, book a return trip and be Australian residents. You also need to purchase accommodation, flights or cruise tickets on your Qantas Money Everyday card. Check the insurance terms for all the eligibility requirements.
Other extras and benefits
0% p.a. on balance transfers for up to 12 months: You’ll pay 0% p.a. on balances you transfer within the first 30 days of your card being approved. You can transfer up to 80% of your credit limit, but there is a one-off 3% fee.
Concierge services: You’ll be able to access Qantas Money Credit Card Concierge to organise tickets and reservations, find information on services, and source flight and hotel availability and bookings. This service is only for the primary cardholder.
Card Offers: Link your card with Qantas Card Offers to earn bonus points on major Australian brands like Myer and Bonds. New discounts and special offers are listed on the Card Offers site and emailed direct to your inbox.
Extra cardholders: Adding other members costs $25 per year, which is a reasonable price compared to other rewards cards.
Statement Instalment Plans: If you need time to catch up, Qantas lets you pay off purchases in monthly instalments at a lower interest rate and with no setup fee. Plus, you could earn 10,000 Qantas Points when you set up a plan of $2500 or more and make your first 3 payments on time. Check the terms and conditions for all the details.

You can use Qantas Frequent Flyer points for airlines in the oneworld Alliance, including British Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and Malaysia Airlines. You can also use points (or Points Plus Pay, where you can pay a portion in cash) at the Qantas Marketplace, which offers discounts and bonus points on 900+ brands. Remember you can earn extra points by tapping your Woolworths Everyday Rewards card and converting the points to Qantas. 2000 Woolworths Everyday Rewards points are worth 1000 Qantas Points.
What’s not so great
This is a nifty frequent flyer rewards card but there are some snags. First, remember you won’t earn the 8,000 bonus points if you already hold or have earned points on any other Qantas branded credit card accounts in the past 12 months.
This card also doesn’t sync with Samsung Pay, which could be a problem if you’re into digital wallets. It is compatible with Google Pay and Apple Pay.
One idea is to earn your 8000 bonus first and then apply for the balance transfer, as long as you apply within the first 30 days to get 0% p.a. for up to 12 months offer. You might need to think about how to get the most value out of the card if you want to use both offers.

Hi Justin, to activate the policy you’ll need to have paid for all eligible travellers’ tickets with your Qantas card. If you’ve met the criteria you’ll get Personal Baggage, Valuables, Money and Documents Cover and Overseas Medical Emergency Expenses Cover. I will be 84 in July this year. If I have a Qantas Premier Everyday Card will I be eligible for travel insurance overseas and domestically?

In Australia, most included travel insurance policies have a cut-off age of 80. You may need to look for a third-party insurer that specialises in coverage for over-80s. Hope you have a great trip!
