The ANZ Business Black Credit Card

Offering outstanding points earning potential and an array of premium features and business tools, the ANZ Business Black card could be just the card your business needs to make the most of your business spending. Plus, enjoy a welcome offer of 100,000 extra Reward Points when you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval.

For a limited time, ANZ is upgrading its new and existing Level 1 Qantas Business Rewards Members to Level 2 for 12 months if you apply and are approved for an ANZ Qantas Rewards Business card by 30 September 224. Level 2 members can access greater savings on flights and earn more Qantas points on work-related flights.

If you think your business could benefit from having the ANZ Business Black card in its collective wallet, let’s look a little closer to see whether this shiny black card truly has what it takes.

What we love...

One of the first things to think about when comparing business credit cards is how much the card will cost month-to-month, weighed against what it provides in return.

As for what you will get in return in rewards, the ANZ Business Black card provides ANZ’s highest Reward Points earning potential. These points can be redeemed within the ANZ Rewards range, allowing you to choose from a wide selection of travel options, entertainment, gift cards, shopping vouchers, merchandise and more.

And that earn rate? You can earn 1.5 Reward Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $10,000 per statement period, then 1 Reward Point per $1 spent thereafter. The card also offers 0.5 Reward Points per $1 spent on taxation payments, uncapped.

New offer! New and approved applicants who apply for a new ANZ Business Black credit card will enjoy 100,000 extra Reward Points. You will need to meet the minimum spend requirement of $6,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval for the welcome extra points to be credited to your account.

In terms of fees, ANZ Business Black now offers no annual fee and no rewards fee in the first year when you apply for a new card and be approved. This saves you a total of $375 ($300 annual fee plus $75 rewards fee). This offer may be terminated or withdrawn at any time without prior notice.

What’s not so great...

For all those rewards and features (which we’ll talk more about shortly), you can expect to pay a significant annual fee of $300. And while additional cardholders are charged no annual fee, each card on the account will attract a $75 rewards fee per year.

It’s also worth taking note of the card’s purchase rate and cash advance rate, as these are relatively high. To make the most of the card’s offerings, try to avoid interest payments by paying off the balance month-to-month, and then work out whether you are getting more from the card than you are paying out each year in fees.

Why should you choose this card?

As a rewards card, there is certainly a lot to love about the ANZ Business Black card. However, it also provides plenty of other perks and extras to enjoy as well.

As a cardholder, you can benefit from complimentary domestic and international travel insurance, up to 55 days interest free on purchases, and the ANZ Global Business Concierge service, which offers 24/7 booking support for business travel, entertainment and trade shows around the world.

Business tools are also provided, which include unauthorised transactions insurance, business expense tracking with data feeds to popular accounting software packages, and monthly spending caps, transaction limits and merchant category controls for each cardholder.

Overall Rating

A premium business rewards card offering excellent features and business tools, as well as superb points earning potential on the ANZ Rewards Program.

I have a VISA Platinum Card would I get more benefits from a VISA Black Card
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    13 March 2023
Hi Yvonne, black credit card products come with distinct features and advantages (and disadvantages). For example, the ANZ Business Black credit card provides a high credit limit and a range of business management tools, while the ANZ Platinum credit card offers lower interest rates and various insurance covers, and the ANZ Rewards Platinum credit card offers rewards points for all purchases, including additional travel perks. To learn more about the benefits of each card, I recommend visiting each card's review section and assessing the factors that are important to against each other.

is the card in the indiividuals name or the business name? Do directors need to authorise therefore? If travelling overseas, is advising ANZ a seamless process online or a painful process where one has to call up and wait?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    23 November 2022
Hi Jason, that’s a great question! Usually, the cards will have both the company name and the card user’s name, but the liability for any debt accrued will be on the individual name that is listed on the card.. So, if the director’s name is on the card, gives a physical card to an employee, then that is essentially authorising the transaction. So, if it’s the business’ protocol that an approval is needed before a transaction can be made to the account, that’s at the discretion of the person who is named on the card. As for travelling overseas, there’s a few things like minimum spend on travel to activate the cover. You can get a written confirmation of eligibility of cover for your international trip by answering a few questions correctly only at www.checkyourcover.com.au/anz. Hope that has all made sense!

Hi Pauline. We've recently signed up for ANZ Rewards Black credit card. We've been paying our monthly suppliers statement amounts by this card, always making sure there's enough money to cover the amount so we're not incurring interest charges. These payments to our suppliers are described as "cash advance". Are we earning points on these payments?

Hi Caroline, thanks for the context provided with your question! Unfortunately, with this card you do not earn Rewards Points on cash advances.

    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    6 January 2022
Hi James, when applying for a business credit card you’ll need to have your ABN handy to add to your application. You’ll also need to be 18+, satisfy the income requirements and have a clean credit history, plus meet the bank's internal credit criteria. Hope this has helped!

Are there any fees for international transaction while travelling in different countries.
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    11 December 2018
Hi Arthur, the Foreign Transaction Fee is 3% on the ANZ business black credit card. I'm struggling to find a business credit card that has no international transaction fees. Overall this feature has massively decreased in the market. Very few consumer cards themselves now have this feature as well. On the ANZ side, have a look at the Rewards Travel Adventure Card. Its a personal card but has no foreign fees and no overseas cash advance fees. With good insurance and points earning, this is a great friend for traveling.

Do the reward points convert to frequent flyer/other airline points 1:1? ie 1 frequent flyer point for every reward point?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    2 October 2018
Hi Janet, the ANZ Business Black earns custom ANZ Rewards points. You can find out more about the program here - https://anzrewards.com/. Though for transfer values to airline programs. 1,500 per 1 Airport. 1,500 per 1 KrisFlyer. 1,500 per 1 Asia miles. This will give you an idea of the redemption. If you are looking for Qantas points (on a Visa) then I suggest the NAB Qantas Business Signature credit card.

My husband and i have just strated a small automotive business. We need a credit card with a very small limit to buy parts for customers on. Aprox monthly spend is $1000
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    1 May 2018
Hi Simone, this is possible though it can be difficult to get credit for new businesses. An option could be to just use a personal card for now and have the business pay the bill. If you are keen for a business card right now. Then you can simply apply online for what looks good. The ANZ Business Black has a minimum credit limit of $10,000. So I think this would be overkill. Speak to your everyday bank about a card they may be able to offer for the credit limit you desire.
