The Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card

If you’re looking for a low cost platinum rewards card that is big on features, the Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card may just put an end to your search. With an enticing array of introductory offers and a heap of tempting extras, this is one platinum offering that puts the reward into rewards card.

What we love...

Who doesn’t love a good intro offer? The Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card happens to have a pretty amazing introductory offer on the table, providing new cardholders with not one, but two inviting offers. All you need to do to benefit from them is apply and be approved to be eligible..

Here’s how they break down:

  • $0 annual fee for the first year, providing you a saving of $49
  • 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 14 months from card approval.

Now, what’s to love in the day-to-day? Aside from its introductory offers, the Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card has plenty to keep you interested. For Woolies shoppers, one of the best things about this card has to be its rewards program.

The card lets you earn points as you shop, and then every four months, as long as you have earned enough points, you will receive a shopping card, which can be used across participating Woolworths group stores. The more you spend, the more points you earn, the bigger the reward. And there’s no limit to the number of credit card points you can earn.

  • Earn 3 points for every $1 spent on all purchases of Woolworths Select and Woolworths brand range of products.
  • Earn 2 points for every $1 spent on purchases at Woolworths Supermarkets, Dan Murphy’s, Cellarmasters, BWS, BIG W and Caltex Woolworths.
  • Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on eligible purchases everywhere Visa is accepted, in Australia and overseas.

What’s not so great...

Before you apply for this card, it’s worth taking note of the interest rate applied to purchases and cash advances. While the purchase rate and cash advance rate on this card is about the same as most other platinum cards, it’s high enough that you don’t want to carry a balance.

Also bear in mind that any unpaid balance transfers will revert to the higher cash advance rate at the end of the introductory period.

Why should you choose this card?

One of the most appealing aspects of the Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card is its low annual fee and ongoing discounts and savings at Woolworths group store. And did we mention you get 10% off once a month on selected dates? That saves you up the $50 every month or up to $600 annually! As long as you clear your balance every month to avoid paying interest, this card can help keep your costs low with an affordable standard annual fee. When you take into account the opportunity to earn rewards, and the various features on offer, this card really is good value.

Aside from the introductory offers and rewards program, this card still has plenty to entice you. As a cardholder, you will have access to the Visa Luxury Hotels collection, providing benefits such as free internet, daily continental breakfast for two, room upgrades and late check-out when available, and a $25 food and beverage voucher.

You can also benefit from complimentary Purchase Security Insurance and Wallet Guard, as well as up to 10% off Woolworths insurance. You can take advantage of the services of a 24/7 concierge, access to Visa Entertainment and 50% off selected wine cases at Cellarmasters.

Overall Rating

A feature-packed, low cost platinum rewards card offering an array of introductory offers, including $0 annual fee for the first year and 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 14 months.

Applied for this card over 3 weeks ago, meeting the criteria. Was given approval based on providing payslip evidence. I was later contacted to say that the payslip evidence was not clear & legible. Resent the payslips & waited. Rung up to check progress, told they had received the legible payslip, will be in touch. They then contacted me again saying they couldn't read it properly. Resent payslip again & waited some more. Contacted them again, was told to wait 5 working days. Contacted them again & told it was declined, they couldn't tell me why but I had to wait some more to get a letter they had posted. Big waste of time! Very disappointed. I would not recommend Woolworths cards at all, unless you enjoy being given the run around & the frustration of having your time wasted. Pathetic customer service.

I just rang to cancel this card and after agreeing to pay it completely today I was given a payout figure that didn’t include pending transactions which already appear on the account. Then the person on the other end of the line hung up on me. This happens quite frequently and is very frustrating as you have to go through whole procedure again. Points are very complicated and paid several times a year, not accumulative like Coles. Also, only 1 year free from card fee. Coles is free. Also, interest rates very high. Also, not clear when I first got this card with promise of balance transfer that 55 days interest free on purchases would not apply. Same deal with Coles but they make it very clear before you apply that that is the condition. With this card you find out after they charge interest. All up I would not recommend this card. If you are thinking of a card get one from Coles, especially if you are interested in rewards as Flybuys much easier to use and track and you have a lot more control.

This month I was late by 3 days, but got hit with interest rates which not only include the entire outstanding amount, but for the future month as well - profiteering is the word. No cognisance of any past payment before due date. All my fault ofcourse. When I phoned my call dropped out after all the various prompts.

I got this card initially for the balance transfer but I’ve now paid off the balances I brought over. I’ve found it’s great for earning points now and I use it as my everyday card. I have started shopping a lot more in Woolies though!

Hi Katherine, if you’re referring to the Woolworths Everyday Platinum card, unfortunately they’re not accepting any new applicants. The credit issuer Macquarie has stated that they will no longer be offering Woolworths credit cards Alternatively, you can check some of the other gold and platinum cards for more options.

Can I have my Credit Card in Credit not Debit, take out cash via an atm and not be charger a cash advance fee?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    11 July 2023
Hi Dave, many cards still charge the cash advance rate and the fee even if your card is in a positive balance. It's generally a good idea to refrain from withdrawing from a credit card and use a debit account for that instead.

Having just been refused a Qantas card, no reason given but I think it is because I am retired, my income are my pensions paid into an English bank, which works out to about $37k. I have a Santander Zero card held for many years and is paid fully every month. Is there a chance of a cc with Woolworths please.
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    21 February 2023
Hi James! It’s always tough to know why a decline happens and you’re rarely given any insight, which is frustrating. You could be on the right track with the retiree part - lenders and credit providers view retirees differently because there is no consistent PAYG or self-employment income (your pension going overseas could be another red flag). We’ve put together this guide for pensioners to help you get all your ducks in a row before you apply, so that may give you some ideas (you’ll also find cards there that have low income criteria). Just make sure you don’t apply for too many, as that can hurt your credit score and your future chances at an approval. I hope that’s helped, James!

Hi Deidre, you’ve landed on Creditcard.com.au, Australia’s leading credit card comparison site. It’s best to reach out to Woolsworth directly at 1800 000 610 or Chubb (insurance underwriter) at 1300 791 804 for further information.

Hi John, thanks for your message. You can use a credit card to pay for almost anything, as long as your available credit limit will allow it. You’ll also need to be able to make the minimum monthly repayments as well as checking whether the payment will be processed as a cash advance or a purchase. Let us know how you go!

With the woolworths credit card can you only transfer under the free transfer/interest free once? Or can you if you transfered once when you first got the card and than another once you've had the card for awhile?
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    Roland

    31 May 2021
Hi Lea, thanks for your question! Looking at this card, if you’d like to take advantage of the no interest offer for balance transfers, I suggest making the transfer as soon as you’re approved of the card. However, as long as you have enough credit limit left, you can transfer balances even after the offer period. The Woolworths T&Cs state “subject to $500 remaining in your available credit limit” Hope this helps!

Hi Isabelle, this card is targeted for Woolworths shoppers. Features like the 10% off your shop once a month on selected dates. Saving you up to $50 every month. Can then make the card very useful. The interest rates are high. If your approved credit limit is less than $6,000, you will not be eligible for a Woolworths Everyday Platinum Card and will instead be issued with a Woolworths Everyday Classic Card, which does not entitle you to Platinum benefits. This would then deliver much less.

Hi Alvin, I am not sure if this can be possible with this card. Your points are automatically converted to Woolworths Shopping Card every 4 months, to spend in store and online.
