The Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card - 60,000 bonus Velocity points

Offering you the choice of three rewards programs, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is a flexible credit card with an excellent range of platinum perks. If you are interested in earning Altitude points, check out the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card and if you want to earn Qantas points see the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card – Qantas.

What we love…

One of the great things about the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is its flexibility and as a cardholder, you can choose to earn points on the Altitude program, or you can opt in to the Qantas program or Velocity program. In this review we will look at the Altitude Velocity program.

All you have to do to get your hands on those bonus points is apply and be approved by 31 March 2020, and then spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval. Once you’ve made that spend, the bonus 60,000 points will be credited to your account within 12 weeks. Then it’s simply a matter of deciding what you want to spend them on.

Velocity

When you choose to earn Velocity points you opt in to the Velocity program, paying a $50 Velocity Rewards fee. Within this program, you can earn 0.5 Velocity Points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases, to be redeemed for Virgin Australia flights, upgrades and more. Also stretch out with complimentary Economy X Seat Upgrade Vouchers.

What’s not so great…

As you will find with most platinum rewards cards, the interest charged on the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card is not low. With both the purchase rate and cash advance rate being relatively high, it’s best to avoid cash advances and to clear your balance month-to-month.

As for points redemption, there are other credit cards on the market offering a higher earn rate on the Velocity program, but it’s up to you to work out which one offers the most back for your spend. With its relatively low annual fee, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card may just offer a more rewarding option.

Why should you choose this card?

If you’re looking for a flexible rewards card with some nice extras on the side, the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card could be well worth looking into. As a cardholder, you will pay a $150 annual fee plus an annual $50 Velocity Rewards fee, for choosing to earn Velocity points.

You can also add one additional cardholder at no extra cost to earn points faster. Cardholders benefit from a 24/7 personal concierge service, and a range of complimentary insurance covers.

Overall Rating

The Westpac Altitude Platinum Velocity Credit Card is a flexible rewards card with platinum benefits and 60,000 bonus Velocity points.
