The Coastline Visa Credit Card

As a low cost rewards card, the Coastline Visa Credit Card earns Loyalty Points on the Rewarder program, allowing cardholders to redeem points on purchases at participating retailers. Also on offer is a six-month 0% p.a. balance transfer deal, a low annual fee that is waived after meeting a minimum spend, and up to 55 days interest free on purchases.

What we love...

One of the best things about the Coastline Visa Credit Card is its ability to save cardholders money. It does this in a variety of ways, the first of which involves its balance transfer offer. New cardholders who have debt on their existing credit cards can take advantage of the card’s offer of 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months, allowing them to pay down their debt faster, while paying less in interest.

Another important way the Coastline Visa Credit Card keeps costs down is with its very reasonable annual fee. However, this annual fee becomes even more reasonable if you meet a minimum spend of $12,000 each year, as this will bring the annual fee down to a very manageable $0.

In terms of interest, the card’s purchase rate is about average. It’s not low and it’s not high. So, if you want to keep costs as low as possible, it’s best to clear your balance by the due date each month so you can avoid interest costs accruing, while also taking advantage of up to 55 days interest free on purchases. Note, this feature is not offered on accounts with unpaid balance transfers.

But, while it may be a low cost card, the Coastline Visa Credit Card has something quite special up its sleeve. It is a rewards card. It earns points on the Rewarder Loyalty program at a rate of 1 Loyalty Point per $1 spent on eligible transactions made in Australia and overseas. There is no annual fee for this rewards program, but bear in mind there is a monthly cap of 15,000 points.

To redeem your points, simply use your Rewarder Loyalty Card at any merchant in Australia that provides EFTPoS facilities and accepts the Rewarder Loyalty Card. Points are provided at a value of 0.0066 cents, and can be used to pay for, or make part payment for goods and services at participating merchants.

What’s not so great...

The main factor to be aware of with the Coastline Visa Credit Card is its purchase rate. While its purchase rate may be lower than most rewards cards, it will still make it difficult for you to enjoy any real value on the rewards you earn if you carry a balance. Keep costs as low as possible by clearing your balance by the due date to take advantage of the card’s interest free period.

Why should you choose this card?

If you are looking for a low cost rewards card, the Coastline Visa Credit Card could be a great option. While its rewards program may not seem quite as exciting as some of the larger programs out there, especially frequent flyer programs, it can still offer money back on your everyday spending. And if you meet the minimum annual spend, you will essentially earn those rewards for free.

If money-saving is your thing – whether on a transferred balance with a balance transfer offer, or on an annual fee or rewards program – take a closer look at this card to find out what it could offer you.

Overall Rating

Currently offering 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months, the Coastline Visa Credit Card allows cardholders to save even more with a low annual fee that is waived after a minimum spend, and the opportunity to earn rewards on a simple rewards program.
