The Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Credit Card
As part of Westpac’s BusinessChoice range, the Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Credit Card offers a dazzling array of features, an excellent rewards program and some very pleasing introductory offers, making it a great choice of business credit card for companies wanting up to ten cards linked within one business account.
What we love...
Designed to attract the attention of potential cardholders comparing their options, the Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Credit Card has two very appealing introductory offers currently on the table.
First up, new cardholders will be credited with 100,000 bonus Qantas Points when they spend $3,000 on eligible purchases on the card within 90 days from card approval. You have to apply and be approved by 31 May 2019. Plus, the Qantas Business Rewards program joining fee will be waived, offering a saving of $89.50.
So, what is this Qantas Business Rewards program exactly? To earn Qantas Points on this card, your business must first become a member of the Qantas Business Rewards program. This allows you to earn points on business expenses paid for on your Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Credit Card.
Qantas Points earned by your business can be transferred to any Qantas Frequent Flyer account, to then be redeemed as the account-holder likes. Points could be redeemed on flights and upgrades, or on more than 3,000 items in the Qantas store.
And the earn rate? You can earn 0.75 Qantas Points for every $1.50 spent on eligible business purchases, and 0.5 Qantas Points for every $1.50 spent on government payments. Happily, there is no points capping on this card, so each cardholder can earn as many points as they like within each statement period.
What’s not so great...
To know whether this card really is for you, checking the small print is a good place to start. Some factors you may want to pay attention to include the annual fee, which is $150 for each card, and the rates of interest attached to cash advances and purchases, which are both pretty high.
It’s also worth noting that compared to certain other platinum cards, this card does not offer an overly amazing earn rate on its rewards program.
Why should you choose this card?
One important thing to bear in mind with this card is how it works. Unlike some other business credit cards, the Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Credit Card does not offer personal liability.
Instead, there is joint or several liability among the business principals who apply for the credit card, who are each liable to the bank jointly and severally for all amounts outstanding.
This allows the business to issue up to ten cards to trusted employees, each with individual card credit limits from $1,000, and full tracking on each card's activities.
If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll probably want to know more about the additional features on offer. As a cardholder, you can enjoy several platinum perks, including the services of a platinum concierge, the convenience of easy tax reporting and analysis of your business transactions, and up to 45 interest free days on purchases.
The card also offers an array of insurances. These include overseas travel insurance, interstate flight inconvenience insurance and transit accident insurance; purchase security insurance, extended warranty insurance and guaranteed pricing scheme cover; and unauthorised transaction insurance and business inconvenience insurance.
A platinum business card that offers excellent business features and rewards, allowing you to award earned Qantas Points to yourself, to family or to staff members.
