The Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card

If you want a card that offers a lot but costs a little, the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card could well be worth looking into. This card not only allows you to earn Qantas Points on your everyday spending, it also provides a fantastic range of features for a teeny-tiny standard annual fee.

But that’s not all, if you apply by 30 April 2019, you could take home 20,000 bonus Qantas Points after a $3,000 minimum spend within 90 days of card approval.

What we love...

Fancy taking a trip? The Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card could get you there that little bit faster, with its current bonus points offer. If you apply and are approved by 30 April 2019, and then spend $3,000 within the first 90 days of approval, you will be credited with 20,000 bonus Qantas Points to spend as you like.

Another winning feature on the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card is its annual fee. This card could help you save with its smaller-than-average annual fee. Incredibly low for a Qantas rewards card, the standard annual fee is $49, and $29 per year, per additional cardholder.

As for points-earning potential, you likely won’t rack up points super fast, but you are still earning Qantas Points at a decent rate while paying a measly annual fee.

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 on international purchases
  • Earn 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 on domestic purchases (up to $3,000 per statement period)
  • Earn 0.4 Qantas Points per $1 on domestic purchases (over $3,000 per statement period)
  • Earn 1 Additional Qantas Point per $1 on eligible Qantas purchases

What’s not so great...

One of the things to watch out for on the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card is its interest rate. Like most rewards cards, the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card has a relatively high rate of interest on purchases and cash advances. However, you can dodge those higher rates by avoiding cash advances and clearing the balance each month by the due date.

Big spenders may not be too impressed with the card’s lower earn rate, or with its points shaping past the $3,000 mark each month. But, keeping in mind the card’s low annual fee, this could still be a great option for less frequent credit card users who want to earn points on their everyday spending and travel purchases.

Why should you choose this card?

If you want a rewards card that lets you earn points on the Qantas Frequent Flyer program – while helping you to save on annual fees – the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card could be the perfect option. In addition, the card also offers a host of features, which again, is lovely to see on a low cost card.

  • You will get a $50 Qantas Wine voucher, providing you with a $50 discount when you spend at least $100 at Qantas Wine.
  • You could take advantage of complimentary travel insurance, providing up to $1,000,000 medical emergency insurance cover, plus travel cancellation cover of up to $20,000 for travel booked using your card, interstate flight inconvenience cover, and global hire car excess waiver.
  • You could save on interest with 0% p.a. on purchases for 9 months (reverts to 19.99% p.a. purchase rate thereafter). Offer ends 30 April 2019.
  • You can enjoy the services of a ‘personal assistant’, with the Qantas Premier Concierge, available 24/7.
  • You can enjoy six months interest free on your first Qantas Purchase, across Qantas flights, Qantas Club fees, Qantas Gift Vouchers, Qantas Store or Qantas Wine purchases.

Overall Rating

As a low cost card, the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card has plenty to offer, providing cardholders the opportunity to earn Qantas Points as they shop, while also enjoying a multitude of features, plus 20,000 bonus Qantas Points and introductory offer on purchases.

Hi Bernice, I have hunted around for this information. Nothing is mentioned about free membership so I have to assume no. I did find some terms that mentioned Qantas spend and membership was one. Therefore this makes it more likely that it is not included. Qantas Spend means the following: flights booked directly through qantas.com and Qantas Contact Centres; Qantas flights booked through selected travel agents; Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership, joining and annual fees; Qantas Gift Vouchers, purchases from qantasshop.com.au, qantasstore.com.au and qantasepiqure.com.au.

Pros

  • 20,000 bonus points offer
  • 0% p.a. on purchases for the first 9 months
  • Low annual fee

Cons

  • Cap on earn rate

Hi Clive, if you check your Qantas Premier Everyday credit card statement it will have the information on your due date. Additional to this if you login to Qantas Money, this should provide the information - https://www.qantasmoney.com/account/login

1.40,000 Qantas points - is that the same as Qantas Frequent Flyer points. 2. What are the terms and conditions to cancel the card, in due course? 3. Is it a VISA Card?

Hi Shiv, yes Qantas points are Qantas frequent flyer points. You can cancel the card at anytime you have a $0 balance or can pay it off. It is a Mastercard.

Hi Shane, you can still qualify for the bonus points even though both cards are issued by Citi. Grabbing the terms: Offer available for new Qantas Premier cardholders only. Up to 40,000 bonus Qantas Points offer is available to new approved Qantas Premier Everyday credit card account holders who apply by 31 August 2018. 20,000 bonus Qantas Points will be awarded each month that $2,000 or more is spent for the first two months from card approval. Thanks for advice on cost of supplementary cards. Other reviews state the $49 Standard Annual Fee is for the first year only - what does it go up to in Year 2 and thereafter?

    28 February 2018
Hi Richard, the annual fee on the Premier everyday is $49 for primary card holder. It does not increase in the 2nd year. For the Qantas Premier Platinum credit card, the annual fee is $149 for the first year $299 each subsequent year.

Hi, Does this card give you automatic (free)membership to the Qantas frequent flyer program
    Roland B Bleyer - CreditCard.com.au Founder

    23 January 2018
See Qantas Premier Credit Card Rewards Terms and Conditions.

Hi Karen, you can cash advance up to your credit limit with the card. Therefore if you had $10,000 available, you could cash advance the full $10,000 inc any cash advance fees.
