For the first 12 months with this card, everything went smoothly. Unfortunately I then experienced a fraud situation (picked up quickly and replacement card sent within 2 days) so I felt confident. Sadly, that is the end of the good news. Woeful customer service, think the new card is not linked to my account, could not activate card, cannot get access to transaction data, or change pin. Call centre appears to be overseas and I question staff training. and ownership of problems. After a month of calls, still no resolution and I am sick of it. ,Terrible service for a $299 annual fee

The Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card with up to 120,000 Bonus Qantas Points

Prestige cards can vary greatly in their offerings. Some provide only a handful of convenient features, while others are jam-packed with extras. After checking out the Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card, we’d have to say this card definitely falls into the latter category.

As a platinum rewards card, it offers a great earn rate, plus, new cardholders can benefit from up to 120,000 bonus Qantas Points and 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 18 months. And we haven’t even gotten started on all those lovely extras!

What we love...

First up, introductory offers. If you apply by 31 October 2019 for the Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card and spend $1,500 or more on eligible purchases per month you get 20,000 points per month, for a total of 120,000 points over the first 6 months.

Those points can be spent in the Qantas Store on more than 3,000 products, experiences and vouchers, or on flights and upgrades, potentially getting you from Melbourne to Algiers for 60,000 points, or from Sydney to Istanbul for 55,000 points.

Next, the balance transfer offer. If you have existing credit card debt that you want to pay off, you could transfer it to the Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card to enjoy 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 18 months.

On top of that, you could benefit from six months interest free on your first purchase of selected Qantas products and services, plus complimentary travel insurance for travel booked using your card.

What’s not so great...

When applying for a card such as the Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card, it’s worth bearing in mind how much it will cost you. The annual fee for each year is significant at $299, plus, for each additional cardholder, you will pay $50 per year.

It’s also worth taking note of the earn rate on the card, as the domestic spend is tiered, so that you earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 up to $10,000 per statement period, then 0.5 Qantas Point per $1 thereafter.

I am confused about when intereat starts being charge on outstanding balance. My payment due date is the 15th July but based on the history since I obtained this card 2 months ago, a statement won't be available until the 19th July.My current balance is approx. $6,700 but if I pay that now I will probably rack up another $500 or so tomorrow. So when i first view the statement there will already be an outstanding balance from that is overdue. With our other cards we receive notification that a statement is available (we don't have to go online and check). We download the statement and then there is a grace period during which we can pay the bill (we always do this in its entirety) before interest starts accruing. How does the Qantas card work?

Hi Ian, it all is around interest free days with the card. You only receive interest free days if you pay off the balance in full in the previous billing cycle. When you make the purchase will depend on how many interest free days you can get. If its on day 10 of the cycle, then it is 45 days. As you get up to 55 days interest free. Always at least make the minimum payment required on the day required to avoid a late payment fee. What I do with my cards, is pay them off in full each month to avoid interest.

Hi Michael, the offers on this card are changing all the time. Actually this card seems to be the most charged out of all cards in the market. Therefore, when you apply you need to make sure you understand what actual offer you are getting. These are the current terms on the bonus points if you apply today.
