The VISA platinum card is a prestige credit card for VISA card holders. It is offered by banks and other financial institutions as a prestige credit card.
Prestige cards are credit cards that are aimed at the higher end of the credit card market. These credit cards are usually available only to credit card holders who are either a high earner, who have a high amount of net assets or who have a high amount of spending on their card. They offer a large set of rewards and tend to have higher fees and interest rates. The first prestige cards were known as gold cards but after a while the gold cards became devalued as they were offered more commonly and platinum cards started to be offered to differentiate the offerings from the now less valuable gold cards.
VISA is the world’s largest credit card provider. It is accepted by more than 29 million outlets around the world. If the card is used abroad then the payment is paid in the local currency and is automatically translated into Australian dollars when it is charged to the customers. There is also the ability to use ATM machines, although cash withdrawals can attract fees and higher interest rates.
VISA Platinum offers a number of exclusive benefits such as backstage passes to concerts and plays, and invitations for gallery openings. There is also a VISA Platinum Customer Care Centre which is staffed at all hours every day of the week. It can be accessed through a toll free number that can be called anywhere in the world.
There is also free travel accident insurance if the ticket is purchased using the VISA Platinum credit card. The upper limit on the insurance is $500,000 and it applies to the card holder, their spouse and any dependent children. There is also a service called Airport Meet and Assist which helps with business and personal travel.
VISA platinum also provides a concierge service. This allows for a number of mundane tasks to be performed, such as arranging appointments, personal shopping or booking travel tickets. This is a free service to VISA platinum card holders. It is available at all hours and for all days.
There are a number of large banks that offer the VISA platinum card. These include ANZ bank, Citibank, Commonwealth Bank, HSBC, Macquarie Bank, St George Bank, Westpac and NAB. These banks issue the cards and not VISA themselves.
