The BankWest Zero Platinum MasterCard is a prestige credit card processed by MasterCard and issued by the Bank of Western Australia.
Unlike many Platinum credit cards, which are traditionally quite expensive, the BankWest Zero Platinum MasterCard does not charge monthly or annual administrative fee. Part of the reason that it does not do this is that it does not have a rewards program. This is quite rare for platinum credit cards. The card is part of the BankWest Zero rage of credit cards which do not offer a rewards program in the same way as the More range of credit cards do and do not have a rock bottom interest rate that the BankWest Lite MasterCards (including a Platinum MasterCard) offer.
The BankWest Zero Platinum MasterCard is designed to have a simple and uncomplicated set up. The interest rate is in the middle between the relatively higher interest rate charged on the BankWest More Platinum MasterCard and the lower rate on BankWest’s Lite Platinum MasterCard. Unlike other zero annual fee credit cards it has a competitive interest rate and charges.
As a Platinum card the card there are a number of insurance benefits and concierge services that are offered free of charge.
Concierge services are personal assistants who are available over the phone and can do a number of mundane and time consuming tasks. They are usually a valuable part of any credit card offering and the annual fees for the cards that offer the concierge services tend to be quite high.
The card also offers a free insurance on goods and services where the platinum card is used to buy the item. This includes travel insurance on tickets bought using the card. The flight insurance covers cancellations and losses on all flights, with medical insurance for international flights. Other types of insurance offered are extended warranties and purchase insurance for first three months of ownership.
There is a low rate on balance transfers from non BankWest credit cards for the first nine months. This does not allow for cash advances and there is also a 1% balance transfer fee that can go up to $50. After nine months the rate goes to the normal rate.
The interest is the same for purchases, balance transfers and cash advances. There is an interest free period of up to 55 days after an item is purchased. Up to three additional cards are allowed.
