The Bank of Queensland Gold MasterCard is a credit card that is offered by the Bank of Queensland together with the MasterCard credit card.
Like other gold cards this card is offered with a large amount of benefits together with a higher annual fee.
The card has both international and domestic travel insurance as part of the offering. The domestic flight insurance covers delays to flights and baggage, as well as damaged or lost luggage. Cancellations are also covered, but there are some limits on this. The international travel insurance also covers medical expenses. For the travel insurance to be activated it is necessary to use the card to buy the tickets.
As well as free travel insurance, other insurance policies are offered on goods that are bought with the card. This includes purchase protection, extended warranty and a best price guarantee. The insurance programs are underwritten by Zurich insurance. Purchase protection covers a purchase made on the card from damage or theft for the first couple of months that the good is bought on the card. Extended warranty will add to the warranty that the manufacturer will guarantee a new purchase for. The best price guarantee is a guarantee that if the good is advertised for less in a few months after it is bought then the insurance policy will pay the difference. There is a limit on the amount that can be claimed, both per item and per month.
There is a rewards program that gives rewards for spending; it is called the QRewards program. These rewards can be traded for flights. This rewards program is allowed to be traded for flights on all airlines and it is not limited to any destination, either internationally or domestically. Unlike many rewards cards the rewards are not capped and they allow for the ability to enrol in a tailored rewards program.
The card has a higher credit limit than a non-Gold card would have. This is decided on an individual basis looking at aspects such as income and credit ratings.
As the card is offered by MasterCard it is accepted in almost 30 million locations around the world. MasterCard is the second largest credit card provider in the world, and is based in California. MasterCard also offers a zero liability guarantee which means that unauthorised transactions will not be charged to a card holder. This means that a card holder will have to tell the Bank of Queensland soon after they spot the transaction.
